View Full Version : ZR1 has a younger brother

I said I would get something faster after that old school Porsche beat me in my ZR1 and I took possession of it 2.5 weeks ago. So now my ZR1 has a younger brother parked next to it! I do have the 93 on the market for the right price, but judging by the characters who have come by to look at it this far, I have a feeling it will be staying over this winter.
I had a guy argue with me about the sawblades on the 1993, saying they weren't the factory "ZR1" wheels...or another person accused me of being a curber because I had two Corvette's. Apparently he is clueless to the curbing business as you don't make money curbbing cars of a rare nature with the smallest possible pool of buyers....

So the people keep getting sweeter on my attempted sale of the ZR1. I have in my ad that I may be open to trades of older muscle car/truck...what I got today for email messages:
1.) "Hi, I have a 1998 Camaro with a 2000 LS-1 motor installed. The car has approximately 45,000km. It is loaded and I would be willing to trade you straight across for your Corvette that you have posted."
2.) "So, I have an interesting muscle car that you may consider. It has a 502 GM crate engine, two stage nitrious, and was dyno'd at 600hp. It is a 1979 Trans-Am with only 5000km on the power train. I would be willing to trade you the car and some cash for your ZR1"
3.) "I have a 1967 Chevelle with a 383 stroker. The car has been fully restored and simply needs reassembly. I have lost interest in the project and just want a car I can jump and drive."
Just a thought, wouldn't it been cheaper if you had ported the heads, intake, headers and exhaust for a gain of 100hp on your 1993 ZR-1 then buying the ZO6.:)
Nice ride.

I've been trying to sell my very stock/original 1992 Z07 for a while now and it's a hateful experience...people lump it in with all the $6000 1985's, 150k beaters, project cars, etc.

That thought crossed my mind, but I don't think that would be no cheap adventure either, especially trying to find a shop here to do it. I love my ZR1!! But the Z06 is one bad *** machine if you can get it for the right price...

I feel your pain!! If anything, my friends and I are getting a good laugh out of the emails/phone calls I get. In fact, today I had a person offer me 1/3 ownership of a Cessna 172. What in the world would I want a Cessna for, especially "1/3" ownership...:???:

Would you consider 3/4 ownership of a beautiful bridge? If not, I have some sweet swamp land for the Z. Think about it.

Very nice looking Z06. I've driven a few. They are sweet. But im a hard hard hardcore KOTH guy. And id rather beef up my Z to beat the C6 Z06 than buy one. That will make it even more awesome to own the KOTH. I don't plan on owning another Corvette so my next sports car will be a fairly new porsche carrera S. Variety is the spice of life.

Aren't there a ton of performance options for the Z06 (Supercharger/Turbo)? Love the yellow! I didn't know old school Porsche's were that fast :icon_scra

I had an 88 944 Turbo S that put down right at 350RWHP on pump gas. That was running at about 15lbs of boost. On race gas, I could turn up the boost to 18lbs or higher (400RWHP or more), but at those levels you start having issues with the head wanting to lift off the block. :jawdrop: The car weighed just under 3000lbs, so it was ridiculously fast. It was a dog under 3,000RPM, but then it felt like a freight train hit you from behind.

Nice to have a 'little brother' like that for the ZR-1... I like the Z06 and yellow is a color that goes nicely with the C6. I too have a C6 little brother with a Lingenfelter name... NA not blown, but nice numbers (as much as I need)...
Was out at a 'dyno day' with the local Porsche club...they all were waiting for the club heavy hitter (996 TT) and of course (as it should be) my C6 being last. Here are the results (this is prior to a few minor upgrades and a dyno tune)... all in fun

Now MR BLU has stronger numbers (~460 rwhp), but shows that the C6 (in my case LS2) can be respectfully upgraded without turbo/SC.

You will find it nice to have a choice to which to drive since they are very different rides...unique to their own and fun which ever

I agree variety is the spice of life, but you can't disagree that the Z06 is a completely different car than the first Corvette from hell. Aside form it being a Corvette, they're two totally different cars and the reason why the Z06 attracted me was still the same reason why I bought the ZR1...performance for the price!
I've got a friend who has a 2005 Carrera 4S, it's a great little car and hauls ***! If I end up selling off the ZR1, I'd love to pick up a first generation Viper GTS, always had a thing for that model....

You're right there is a ton of performance parts for the LS7. I'm obsessed with getting it cammed, headers, and exhaust. The exhaust note on that car (even stock) is phenomenal. There are tons of vid's on YouTube of cammed Z's....this one in particular sounds great! There was a guy at the drag strip last weekend who had a 750hp Z06 that ran a 10.4 @ 135mph :worship:

Earlier this summer I had a Porsche 930, probably modified, give me some serious trouble. He wasn't able to "walk" away on me, but he was making ground unfortunately. BUUUTTTT...I made up for it this past weekend in the Z06 against some guy in an F-430! It was the best feeling in the world watching his $200k car slowly show up in my rear view mirror

BUUUTTTT...I made up for it this past weekend in the Z06 against some guy in an F-430! It was the best feeling in the world watching his $200k car slowly show up in my rear view mirrorNo doubt about it. The Z06 is awesome. The last one I test drove was a 2008 atomic orange Z06 with 900 miles on it. I really liked the interior and the navigation system. Very comfortable. Much more comfortable than my 90 Z seats and much easier to get in and out of. Ok I'll just admit it! Everything was better Ok! There I said it. Hahaha! And when I got back in the Z it felt old and sqwashy. Of course that was before I put all poly bushings on it but never the less. But one thing the Z06 didn't have was that LT5 sound. Or the rpm's that it produces. And I thought to myself if I just had another 100 hp I would be at the same hp level and not have to pay the $68,000 price tag that they were asking for it. But the fact still remains the C6 Z06 is one hell of a Corvette.
