Does anyone know anything about replacing a window motor or simply some suggestions about troubleshooting non-functional windows? I have all the manuals and have followed the instructions but still can't figure it out. I have a new window motor but was unable to remove the window, motor, and the "harness" it attaches to inside. Very very frustrated at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can't stand not being able to role the window down so that I can take the top off!
Thanks everyone.

You do not need to roll the window down to take the top off. Open the doors, remove the top, stow the top in the back, and shut the doors. You'll just be driving around with the window up and the top off.

A long time ago I have had the passenger door apart on an 84 that had an inoperative window and it wasn't that hard to get apart. I haven't had the door apart on my 90 or a new one and I know there were some changes so I don't know any tips for your 94.

How far did you get in the trouble shooting...where did you get stuck taking the motor out?

I had my window motor replaced by a specialist as I was told it was indeed not easy to check whether it was the engine or the button connectivities that were down; then you need a solution to fix the new device which cannot be fixed as the original, and then you need to be sure you put the window correctly back between engine and other side as there is very little space. I recommend you let a specialist do the job
Good luck

I can only comment too, on my 84! I bought the whole window frame motor combo deal and my my pro mech. put it in and it makes a noise when operating on the drivers side (a bang sound @ mid cycle) which he said he could not adjust out of the mechanism (usually he does not give up easy) he too said it was a major pita working on it all and close quarters etc. The passenger side did work fine and no sounds going up and down. btw the bang is not too bad and it is not one that will harm the window or the frame device so we live with it and with plenty others that the old 84 makes even though it has only 53k miles on it and less then my ZR-1 @ 60k!!!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think at this point I will probably just have to let a specialist fix the window; much to my dismay! Oh well.

Well hell u got nothing to loose by trying...give it a shot and if it is too tight and cumbersum then take it to the dealer! But I know when I saw how close the fit was I opted to have my mechanic tackle it...
