George you missed that the guy that had the active cars also had the complete drivetrain for EX5011. When he did the roadster in 89-90 GM sent him a rolling tub that was in fact 88 ptype EX5011 and included all the wheels with the 'not for sale' 315 tires on the rear. He moved to the east coast and had phase 02 short block with a production heads injector housing and plenum for sale here at Carlisle with a prototype sign on it. Someone told me about so I went and took a look. After looking at it and talking to him about whereof came from I bought everything he had for 13,000 to be delivered to turkey rod run. The car was running when he got it. After he got the car built GM sent a production drive train to put in the car and he kept the ptype drive train and wheels. One of the rear wheels has the P8Y084 written on it. The motor is s/n LT5 058. I will be putting this drive train in Queenie since it is a real complete setup and the only documented ZF operational 6 sped.

Note: The correct P number is P8Y084 and motor s/n is 58. It was late and I had a senior moment.

TT, boy I have a hard time keeping track of all the numbers. I am guessing that this is the car we are talking about. Do you know anyone who would want the rear end? See attachements. George

I saw the wheels on a car out here in Long Beach. Met the owner and we discussed the car, even bought a few old hoses off him. for the car. So not sure we are talking he same car. George

The sticker on the wheel is a LTPWS of some sorts. There is a brand name on it. Maybe GM was doing some vendor testing in 87 for this option????

The guy I bought the stuff from was the owner of Calif Street Rods and the tub was supplied by GM to be used to mock up the mounting in the purple roadster he did for the Oakland roadster show, GM sent a production drive train that was installed for the show. According to him the tub was destroyed, GM came and got the 2 active cars from him one sold at BJ a couple of years ago. The rear end has a different ratio more suited to autocross, If that is the rear why did you not buy the drivetrain?

TT okay we are almost on the same page. I met the same guy from Calif Street Rods. And he said the tub was long gone. The rear end I have is out of a different car all together, And yes I did buy complete the drive train. Balance of car reported as crushed. :-({|= See attached, George

According to my build sheet EX5011 was bright red (BIU) with cognac (601) interior. None of the 25 cars show the FX3 nor the active suspension being done on the production line which does not match the project book.

George the car in the picture is an 89 or later as it has the solar windshield. The image is not clear enough to make out if it is a production engine, and you give it a s/n as 55 so I assume it is 89 pilot number 55. Aparently he had the EX5011 stuff someplace else as one of the wheels I bought has P8Y084 written on it and you would have noticed that immediately. The engine has 90 or later heads/IH/Plenum on it which also comes with the deal(he replaced the originals just for show and has the original Phase II stuff). These pieces (Production) look almost new and have matching head/cam cover numbers. I did not check but was told by someone who did. Anyone need a top end?
Tyler
You might have the rear out of the 88 car.

Neither EX5011,EX5014, nor EX5023 have s/n on the wheels
Here is a shot of the s/n,wheel and engine.

As you can see it was just a little confusing, if you did not know your motors you would have bought this and not been able to make it run.

I should have used the term "part #" I got mine from an old GM employee who had them on his 68 vert for auto crossing

Does anyone know the part number of the 11" wheel used in 88? I want to get the GM stickers duplicated for the wheels. The sticker is on the outer face of the wheel.

Its the equlivant to a 1987/88 laptop. The unit was used for in car testing of calibrations by Geoff Jeal while at LOTUS.

I want some of those blank cam covers - they would polish up sweet. Shame they are matched to the heads.
There are lots of subtle differences on that engine when you look closely.
