I'll be getting new GS-D3's on the car. The rears go on next week most likely, the fronts a few weeks later as they are backordered at the Tire Rack. I will have them toss my rears unless anyone wants them.

They have a DOT manufacture date from sometime in 1995 I believe, so they are about 10 years old. They have an acceptable amount of tread left, but not a lot. Maybe 30-40%? Here's the only picture I have, but I could take more:

I'd prefer to give them locally, not ship them, but I guess I could if someone really needed them. Otherwise I'll just chuck 'em.

I will have the fronts for sale in the next month or so, though. They have a lot of tread left and are only 5 years old, so I won't be tossing them.

Aurora,
I am definitely not local but would be interested if no local members step up. I would certainly be willing to pay you something for your trouble and may be interested in the fronts as well.:handshak:

Any idea what shipping would cost from your area to the Houston area?

I've never shipped tires before. But the Tire Rack charged me $33 to ship the new rears from Georgia to Virginia. So I'd guess maybe $50 to ship them both or less?

I won't have the fronts available for about three weeks as the GS-D3's in 275/40 are on backorder. But I'll be sure to save the rears when I get the new ones put on then. If no one local wants 'em, I'll ship them out to you. I wish I could recall the DOT datecode when I pulled them to look. I posted it somewhere but beats me where. I do remember them being 10 years old, though, so they may be closer to 11 now. I'll snap a few picts of the rears today just so you've a good idea of what you'll be getting and if it's worth shipping.

u know ur avitar mr A made me relize my bulb must be out in my dic for "full power" since the only thing that comes on in my 92 is the little green led by the power key!!! Any one else had their bulb fail in this way too? Does it happen often to dic backlight bulbs...is it a pain to get to em? or easy?

Heheh, only the 1990 model has this light. 1991-95 just have the little green LED by the key (which I don't have).

FYI I got around 300 for my old rear GSC's. Shipping isn't that much.

 Well, I already said "free", so I'll stick by that (assuming ZR1dogan will mount them and not sell them ;) ). I'll take a few picts tomorrow, the wheels are loaded up in the car and will be re-tired tomorrow. The tires actually have a pretty decent amount of tread on them, it's just the age that has me swapping them out.

The fronts are 5 years newer, have much more tread, so I'll try to offset my new tire purchase with those puppies.

How do you decipher the date code on the tire?:icon_scra

The "277" is the date code. They started doing it in the 90's. So it's the 27th week of 1997. For newer tires, they are 4-digit, like 4905 for the 49th week of 2005, which is what my new GS-D3's have on them.

What do the rest of the code stand for? Does any one know when they started this?
