Secondary throttle plate opening

Quick question, how do the secondaries open ? Are they gradually opened or do they snap open ?

The plates and injectors are either open or closed.
Imagine the injectors spraying on slightly opened plates!!??
In fact, the calibration has a slight delay (.3sec) before injectors come on.
With secondaries removed, I set that to 0.
