As a part of header install I wanted to install thermal and acoustic pad outside the tranny hump.
I remembered Craig's post and got the product info from him but it seems the stuff he used is no longer available.
As Craig had said, the best place to create a protection layer is actually outside the car directly over the headers. However, my concern is finding a right product that will adhere and stay adhered to the fiberglass hump. Has anyone used a product as I am contemplating? Concern is the adhesive may melt or, worse yet, catch fire.

I don't really know what it is or where to get it, but on the floorpans of my Silverado 2500HD (with Duramax diesel), there's a metallic material of some type which looks like a noise or heat deadener. Perhaps this material might work for your purposes.

Thanks!! looks like it is a self adhesive material, how much did you need for the tunnel?
I used a full sheet and had a little small pieces leftover. 42" X 48" sheet.
I hope you like it as much as I do.

if you dont mind cleaning everything first, there is a great spray on product called lizard skin . does both sound deadening and heat protection

That looks pretty good for under carpet insulation, but I think Yun is looking for exterior to block the heat and sound from the outside as well. I wish I knew about this one as I used a different product on the inside that was not as much material and custom cut as well. Thanks for sharing this.

I found an alternate product and will give it a try. Exterior install is what makes it tricky since header heat could negate the adhesive. I will keep an eye on it.
Eitherway, deletion of cats and jet coating, I believe, actually will reduce the amount of heat in the hump area. If I see these pads losing adhesion I will just yank the off.
