Hi, guys,
I just got a killer deal on a set of OBX headers. Matter of fact I will be shipping them out to NC for jet coating.
Gaskets that came with the headers are small gaskets for each runner as opposed to one piece per side. Any reason I should get the other type?

For ease of installation, I much prefer the one piece gaskets. Jerry's Gaskets makes the ones I like best.
Your mileage may vary!

Thanks, Paul. I am ordering a set of gasket and a "O" ring for the dip tube.

The one piece are great -- since you can hang the header off of the central stud while installing, then slip the gasket in between, allowing it to hang on the same central stud (Jerry's gasket is cut to hang on the stud just like the headers).

Understood. Hopefully I will have this done for Carlisle.

Is the central stud present on a 94? I seem to have two studs, one on each end that require no bolts?

No,the later motors don't have the center stud, this center stud has a nut that tightens down, the later motors have 2 small dowels on either end.
If your working in tight space, you can use some weatherstrip snot yellow stuff to stick the gasket to either the header or head.

if the old gasket left behind some black graphite around the ports does it need to be removed down the the bare aluminum before the new gasket goes on? I am having a hard time getting it off because it is so thin and stuck so hard.

Yes, clean it good if you don't want leaks or do the job twice.
I use a one sided blade.
