Injectors&Seals 1990 Have Parts RC Injectors Jerrys Gaskets Seals
Do you have any mechanical ability ? The reason I ask is to change the injectors is a fairly easy job. Now if you don't have the ability. Or just would rather have someone else do it , that is very understandable. The Vette Dr's and Corvettes of Westchester can handle it in NY. As far as Mass. go's maybe Mom (Dave Bright) may know of some one. We also have a few members out of the Connecticut area that may be more helpful.
Hey guy's do we have a DIY on changing out injectors that we can help Carmine with ??

Frank, in Cliff's "Solutions" sticky I'm sure there is a write up on changing injectors.
Hey Carmine, not to be nosey, but the injectors are/have gone south on you? You have a garage to work in? If you don't get a good feeling about any of the sources proposed give me a shout and I could do either of the following:
1.) walk you thru this over the phone.
2.) do a map quest & load my stuff & come up & help you do this injector R&R.
:o not trying to be a nay sayer on other people working on LT5's, but if a shop ain't never done it do you want them to learn on your ZR-1? I'm not being a wise guy either, but I don't pay people to learn on my car....I can do that on my own....just saying & all...:o

I am west of Albany and we could do it at my place but I am quite a distance from Boston.

John, fwiw if Carmine's injectors have gone south already I would like not to drive his car anywhere. I don't think it's a very good idea as I fear too lean a charge could make the valve faces a bit crispy? I can do this Al fresco as long as the rain stays away.
Doug called me & volunteered to assist also!

My garage is something of a mess but I have basic tools and a scissor lift if my location would be a help - I'm about an hour NW of Boston (near Lowell and Nashua NH) in Pepperell MA.
Heck I need to do a plenum pull for a vac leak and do something for a catch can but I have the willies on opening this can of worms - I never have more than a couple weeks between events and there's this long standing two-week rule - don't work on the car with less than 2 weeks to an event ;).
Hubs/brakes/springs/shocks I'll do that stuff all day long but the plenum job makes me nervous...
IN fact I'd be glad if we could get something of a NEZOO together and would be happy to host, at least when I'm not out racing!
Best,
- Jeff

Just a thought.
I agree if the injectors are bad, driving is not a good idea. If Carmine wants some help, let us know, I'd be up for a road trip!

Hi Jeff,
It sounds like you would prefer to wait until race season is over???
A plenum pull is not that bad once you do your first one.
Would be great to do a NEZOO event in the near future.
Maybe we could plan something in the NE. Probabily would be better to plan it under the NE section of the forums.
John
Ifin you guy's need a hand let me know. Heck I'll plan a mini Vacation around it. Take me longer to get off the Island than to do the job !

:o Carmine, I think that I may have been a bit too "forward" in my offer! I just don't want any of the NE crew to think that when they post up that no one is listening from the NE crew.
I check in almost every day here so if you want to do this and you want an assistant that has been under the plenum already, just post up and you and I will work something out. :handshak:
Yo Jeff, my man! I can't do suspension work worth a damn.....I'd love to learn from some one that does the twisties! Not much of a straight line guy myself......twisted lines always do it for me, maybe that's why I sign up for Jingles' Check Ride at BG all the time. JMHO, we are stronger together when be blend our individual specialties!:handshak:

May I suggest that the plenum and injector housings to be sent out (exchanged) and trimmed a bit while they are off.........then.

It's beautiful here from spring till late fall. We don't like leaving here much during the "season". Too much to do and no time to do it.
Now is a great time to change out the anti-freeze Carmine.

I wish I could be emphatic...it seems about right. It should be enough to remove the plenum only to change the injectors while leaving the injector housings still bolted to the heads. Just be mindful that the coolant level is up to the exit tubes at each I/H even with the motor off.
Tom
It's been so long since I had my plenum off. Look Carmine just be careful I seem to remember that the bleed holes for the T/Body de-ice circuit will bleed coolant up thru the I/H's with just the radiator emptied. Keep a sharp eye and leaving the rad petcock open may be of use. I may have that completely wrong, but just keep a sharp eye out when you pull the plenum off.

Did you take the cap off the fill reservoir? It will get a nice vacuum bubble behind it holding in all the water.

Jeff, sounds like a plenum pull is well within your abilities, just take lots of pictures and you will be fine.Only need to drain about a quart of coolant from the system, maybe a little more.
