I know of 3 runners, born in FBI land, and I believe Marc H. was about to begin on another, a month or two ago - status and whether open or closed deck is unknown.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Frank's 441 is an open deck jewel - a Marc Haibeck creation, whereas Al and Kevin's 441s are closed-deck conversions based on an AES reworked LT5 short block design, as is Bob G's 427.

All i have to say is,move over Brad Pitt :)

Pete normally does all of his work in a thong, tool belt, and hiking boots....

That day my thong was at the cleaners getting cleaned also adding beaded fringes to the back side, getting it ready so i can work on your Z,Lee.:p
Closed deck is like the old small block chevy's.
LT5 has cylinder sleeves and there is nothing around the sleeves you could basicly pull cylinder sleeves out by hand.
I know there is pictures on here of Todd's, Bob's or Al's closed deck LT5's
compare them to stock LT5.
Somebody find and post the pictures.

I'm fascinated by the closed deck liner conversion.
love to hear more about it. when I saw the work that went into the 441 on Franks can I thought "oh my" thats gonna cost ya
I hate to see him selling that car it's a monster
pete,
can you give us some ball park numbers on the parts cost and what you end up spending. I know it's not cheap but it seems like it would be more affordable than the machined and welded in insert
are they holding up OK? also like to get more details on the clutch used in Bob G.s car.
if he ever wants to sell his used one, I'm sure interested! had a very good feel and could hold the big power well.
nice job pete, you do some amazing stuff:fahne:
