Hi,
Can anyone give me the part number/numbers of the 1990 fuel pump #1 and #2 relays. I work for an OEM GM dealer and the parts guy said that the computer lists only one relay for ZR1 in 1990. So much for the OEM system. I have 2 of the listed relays ordered just in case.
I have just run into a shop stopper, so to speak, with the R and R of the pumps. Someone actually sealed the fuel sender flange to the tank with Blue RTV. I have all the bolts out and it is stuck fast to the tank. Does anyone have any idea what could be used to soften the RTV so I dont have to go to the expense to remove the tank ?
What should be a 10 minute job now looks like a 3 to 4 hour job. Sloppy work by a backyard no nothing jerk.
Thanks
Don

Just take a razor blade and work it under the flange. Then work a putty knife under the flange.

Hi
Thanks for the tip but the razor blade won't work in such a cramped location but a technician that I work with came up with a sturdy hooked tool and with a lot of arm strength pulled it loose.
ONE THING WOULD BE HELPFUL. IF I COULD GET THE PART NUMBERS OF THE #1 AND #2 RELAYS.
THANKS

I can't verify this, but relays on the late C4s seem to be a common part, so #1 and #2 are probably the same.

I believe that in production you would find a 25520198 relay used in both locations. This was also a published service number through I believe at least '93 maybe later until the stock was depleted.
In the GM SPO applications the 25520198 and three other relay part #'s were replaced with a 14100455 (1995) which was later replaced with a 13502674 (2010) which is the part # currently displayed. Part #'s can change for several reasons, most common is a vendor change. The 25520198 I believe was a HELLA by brand.
If your car has "other than" in the relay holder someone may have just swapped them around for diagnostics at one time or perhaps the part # you find there was considered a good service number at the time.
See what you find there OR what did you find in the holders?
I believe that sometime in the '89 - '90 time period it's likely that AC Delco/Rochester might have ceased production of their own relays and moving forward from there it was contracted.

:cheers:Hi WVZR-1,
WOW, your response was just what the Dr. ordered. Thank you very much for the part numbers. I will check the parts I just got from my parts department and go from there.
I had one other thing come up that was interesting, the FSM and the FSM electrical trouble shooting manual, both Helm publications, for 1990 show the fuel pump relay locations differently. I can work around this issue but the FSM are not always correct. There is no substitue for the knowledge of folks like you that really have the answers.
Thanks again,
Don
