Check out the cover...shootout between the Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Countach, Aston MArtin Zagato and what....what is that in the back.....the 1990 ZR-1.
"We defy anyone not to be impressed by the ZR-1. That its supercar quick isn't want surprises; more than unexpected is its sense of refinement. If logic were allowed to rule the day, and value factored in, it would bash the other three cars hollow."
For those that are not familiar, OCTANE is a european magazine.....apparently someone loves us

Yep most bookstores have it, printed in Europe so shipping jacks up the costs.....

Makes me wonder if it won't be the Europeans that end up increasing the appreciation in our cars. The ZR-1 is definitely ann"odd duck" when it comes
to American sports cars. It would be very unique in Europe but with a European heart. Probably lots of guys there with ability to mod the motor. And we've already blazed a trail for them on what to do.

-I too like to see this....the ZR-1 is sooooo overlooked, but you know that is in many ways our mystique of this machine.

Why is the F40 so great...
Because its all business
No AC, No Radio......just the essentials

The photography is delicious! These guys obviously love cars. It's a bit
like watching the first season of Miami Vice.
Fun to read Lee. My favorite part is the last paragraph! Thanks for putting this up.

Lee...thanks for posting and really enjoyed the read. The ZR-1 must have really impressed them... usually the Brits or Europeans dismiss a Vette outright regardless of details or outcome :fahne:

As the kid in Ghostbusters said when the Playmate ended up in his bed,
"Thank You, Santa!"
Thanks Lee. I really enjoyed that.

Thanks for sharing that Lee. A great read. Good to see the British press giving the ZR-1 the recognition it deserves.
It's kind of funny, I remember the British and European press being stunned when the ZR-1 came out. No one seemed able to believe that the 'vette could stand right up there with the best of the European sports cars. They seem to have forgotten all about that now for the most part.
I'm obviously a really wierd 'brit' - I've loved 'vettes since I was knee high to a C3 :)

Enjoyed it greatly. And what suprises me is the Z didn't come in last. Plus now I learned what kinda performance the other three cars possess.
I guess this means I should break out that whopping $8.50 and become a registered member now instead of just a visitor after 4 years. Lol!

cool, but as it turns out, I had time to kill because I'm away for work in Mississippi and found one single issue at a big book store at the mall...bought it to look at and put in with some of the ZR-1 documentation I have.
(btw, I rented a 6 spd 5.0 mustang- interestingly similar power delivery)

Thats an excellent article, somebody did some homework on that one.Why is it the dweebs that write for OUR Corvette magazines can write a simple story with completely inaccurate info?Thats probably the best write up Ive read in a long time.

 Lee and Kevin for putting up the article for us to read. I'm going to B & N to buy a copy asap.
It was a great read & very entertaining. I still won't trade my ZR-1 for any one of those cars though. JMHO, a ZR-1 is maybe 80% of the performance with none of the maintenance liabilities and you can sit in traffic with the A/C on.

I just found complete Octane article posted at:http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/features/octane_features/274174/driven_1980s_supercars.html Great article and they love the ZR1. Factor in price and it wins hands down.

Money no object car for me is the callaway sledgehammer at 254 miles an hour in 1988!!! that record stood a long time. I bet with a little tweaking that very same car can better that just by upping the boost a little more. f40 too much money and too uncomfortable.. all others the same. How bout that 750hp callaway zr1 twin turbo. Bet you can buy two or three of those for the price of one of the others. ridiculous people pay for that euro garbage.
