I thought some of you Z guys were supposed to show up?? There was a ZR1 there, I think a father/son combo running in the novice and intermediate groups.
They do a Corvette HPDE event at Summit every year. I have to say, I highly recommend it. It was unbelievably fun and nerve-wracking.
Here's some Corvettes that were there:

Would have been cool to see your car there! But yeah, it was a total blast. I don't know if I'm "hooked", because it's expensive and time consuming. But it's a ton of fun.
Also, if anyone has brake dust problems, Armor All Wheel Protectant is the real deal. I went through like 1/2-1/3 of the front brake pads, got them hot enough to turn the silver calipers to gold, and the wheels looked like I just washed them. No lie, it was shocking how well that stuff works:

FYI in case anyone is interested. Here's what a lap with a novice driver in a bone-stock CTS-V is like:

And then one lap in Mike's '90 Corvette race car:

I was of the impression an LT5 ZR-1 was gonna be out there, which I thought would be really cool to see. Instead there was an LS9 ZR1.

Just out of curiousity would your lap around the track been faster in your old ZR-1? Would it have been more fun?

It probably would have been faster, but who knows. The LS9 was in my run group, and was behind me at one point, but never made it close enough to get by, in fact he disappeared. There's more to it than just the car.
I know I would have been much more concerned about the brakes in my ZR-1. I doubt I would have tried a track day with it. That's one reason I would have liked to see one running. I'm interested to know how they'd fare.
