View Full Version : **ZR-1 Front Plates**

Greetings all,

As some of you know I made some plates for the front bumper of the ZR-1s a couple of years ago. These plates replaced the fatory "CORVETTE" plates with "ZR-1". I have since stopped making them. But due to the recent interest in them I have decided to run another batch of plates. I posted this information over on the CorvetteForum a couple of moths ago. The Forum Moderators and Administrators decided that they were not going to allow me to sell them on the CorvetteForum. They want me to become a supporting vendor on there and pay them to sell the plates on there. Which I can understand from their standpoint, but I am not in the business of making these things fulltime. My day job is in management. I am the Plant Manager of a production facility in Florida. This job takes up quite a bit of my time. Usually 6 days a week. I cannot afford to become a vendor and pay them a monthly fee for something I will only make a limited amount of. These plates were something I came up with when I owned my ZR-1.

So now before I even start to post details about the plates here I want to make sure that I have permission to do so. If any Moderator or Site Administrator has any issues with me doing this please let me know before I go any further. I had to purchase new molding material as the original molds are pretty much shot. I have a list of people who showed interest when I posted this information on the CorvetteForum. I will make new molds and begin production in the near future. I will post the details on how to order as soon as I get the ok from the powers that be, here on the ZR-1 Registry Forum.

Have a good day,
Jason

Hello and welcome to the forum Jason.:handshak:

It is about time you registered over here, even though you don't have a ZR-1 any longer & now own a Found On the Road Dead.

As you probably recall, I have suggested you continue to make these since occasionally we have members looking to buy them. I see no problem with you taking orders for a limited production of plates for our members. Since you cannot promote it on CF, link our site to those who are interested and ask them to sign up over here if they have not already done so.

Sorry for the delayed response.

The price is $60 which includes shipping in the continental US, Alaska and Hawaii cost slightly more due to the increased shipping to those two states. The plates are shipped primered, the buyer will need to have them painted to match. Also the two lower holes to attach the plate will also need to be drilled out. When I first made them I drilled the holes. But I received some E-mails about the holes not lining up, so I stopped drilling them out. The best way to get the holes right is to put the factory plate back to back with the new plate. Then mark and drill the holes. This way the plate will match the plate that came off of your car. Here is a picture of a painted plate on my old car.

For now I want to get the new molds made and get some plates made as well. I am not going to accept any payments until I get at least 25 plates made. I have a paypal account which is how I handled 99% of the previous payments. Money orders and cashiers/certified checks will be accepted. I will accept personal checks, but I will wait for the check to clear before I ship the parts.

The only problem I am having at this time, is time itself. I am having difficulty finding the time to build the parts. I am much busier now than I was previously. But I will do my best to get the ball rolling on these things as I know you all are anxious to get one.

Thanks,
Jason

I will be posting the details on payment soon. I will fill the orders as fast as I can. But remember, this is not my day job. That is why I want to build some plates before I take orders. Once the stock is gone it will take longer to fill the orders. So please be patient with me.

While we all want everything yesterday, I appreciate anyone taking the time to do something like this, so I say, If I get it by Christmas, it will be just that, like a present, so thanks, and likely I'm not the only one to say this.

I think that I speak for most of us in appreciating anyone who goes out of their way to help the ZR-1 community. Your idea was novel and I am glad you still can find the time to produce these on a part time basis for our members.

On a personal note:

I have dealt with Jason before, and he is a stand up guy.

This despite him no longer owning a ZR-1, and driving a Fix Or Repair Daily Rustang.

BiZ
03-21-2006, 12:21 PM
The new molds will be finished in a day or two. Then I will begin to make the actual parts. As soon as a get a nice little amount of plates built I will post the order info. Shouldn't be too long now.

Thanks for all of your patience,
Jason

I finished the molds last night. They need to fully cure for about 24 hours before I run any parts through them. They should last for roughly 30 parts each (90-MY and 91and up-MY). I am going to make another pair of molds next week since it looks like I will need to.

Z-Factor you have a PM.

Pete

I know this is pretty old,but if Biz is still around i thought i'd ask.
If you can make molds for the front plate cover can you also make molds for our bumber moldings?

I don't need them but for the right price i will buy a set just to have.

Just a thought.

I was thinking CnC them in aluminum with threaded holes.
Any interest in this.

Pete
