Just got home last night, first time the Z has been back in the garage since the last week in March. In that time, it went from Wichita, KS to Salt Lake City(it got snowed on a couple times...didn't melt). Did a weekend trip from SLC to Sacramento and on to the Bay area for a cruise up the coast with the fine folks from NorCal Vettes. Back to SLC. Finished my project in SLC and drove it down to Las Vegas where it sat in my buddies garage for a week while I flew home for some R&R. Picked it up in Las Vegas and drove it down to LA. I've had it in LA since the first week of May using it as a daily driver back and forth from the hotel in Yorba Linda to our plant in Riverside. Attended Cars & Coffee in Irvine one Saturday morning and then entered it in a car show at J&M Speed Center, in Riverside, a week later. Finished up my project last Friday and headed for home Saturday morning. Went Yorba Linda to Albuquerque on Saturday across I-40 in that wonderful wind. Spent about 15 miles following a Lexus at speeds of 95-115mph. Overnighted in Albq. Sunday headed out for the Albq to Wichita leg. Pulled into the driveway around 9:30 last night. All said, I've put nearly 12,000 miles on it since I bought it at Thanksgiving, and I did 1560 miles this weekend coming home. Yesterday I saw 104-106 degree temps in the Texas panhandle, running 80+mph with the A/C on. I must say I will drive this beast anywhere, she has performed like a dream and I love every minute behind the wheel.

DRIVE'EM...it's what they're made for!

Truer words were never spoken.....and I do believe that they surely apply to ZR-1's! JMHO

I'm a bit envious of all my Brother Z owners that live in the more ZR-1 friendly places in this great country of ours. You Brothers really get to have your cake and eat it too!

I have to think that you really have a very bad case of permagrin now!

I needed some attitude adjustment so yesterday I drove mine in the rain up to see the Grand Am boys play at Lime Rock. It was just what the doctor ordered! Oh, yes the car is filthy but it's less than a shrink!

Tom,

80 degrees and humid this morning in DC. Jumped in my spit shined Z 6:15a.m., drove on George Washington Parkway before the major rush w/ Nitty Gritty Dirt Band-Battle of New Orleans playing, flying down to SW DC along the Potomac... Yes. I was grnning all the way.

There is THAT down side...today I get to clean 1500+ miles of road grime off of her.

Oh well, there are worse things I could be doing...like working.

I use to feel that way until I got mine fully restored and undercarriage cleaned.
These days "Zr-1 in the garage on a rainey day beats great day in my wife's car".

There you go Yun.....I don't have a wife, only a Mistress & she gets jealous of my Cobalt sometimes! :sign10:

I just thought of this, I'm working on a survivor so it's okay for me to drive Her in the rain!

Lucky you! Last time I had a mistress...
This restoration has been a 10 year journey - first 9 was wishing I could and last 1 year was actual work made possible by an accidental acqaintance with the WAZOO gang - the best that ever came out of ZR-1 ownership and to me that spans 20 years.
However, life is a double edged sword. I actually think about the weather and where I will be parking before taking her out - sorta like that dog with a bone in one of those insurance commercial.

Okay Yun before you think that I deserve to have my power key revoked.....:p

I do consider where I'll be going and if it is a ZR-1 approved environment.

Amen Tom!....

My fishing buddies used to say that about fishing! Car wash shampoo & a little time and everything is all clean.

Yea, the "other" thing...well the "who's at fault" is yet to be determined according to the claim supervisor assigned to my case. The guy said he never hit me!

Mine is only a few hundred miles from turning 30,000 on the ODO. What happens then? Do I need to send it to Carousel and start saving money for a new C7?

:sign10: Good one Mike! Never trust anyone over 30!

I'm happy to report that mine blew thru 30 & is on it's way to 50 with 3 BG trips & 3 Carlisle trips, and 1 trip to WAZOO land under it's belt.....oh forgot a short ride to the track this week....hey Yun, most of those were in the rain! Does that make me a "wet work specialist"? :sign10:

Hey mine turned 30 back in 2000. Remember, up until April, 2010 she played in the snow (well tried anyway...) as well as rain. Does that make mine a slush puppy?
Drove her into work today and may I say it was GRAND!
