Rep said these rods are nearly impossible to bend or break, said they even survive pistons coming apart, etc

I am checking something if my math is right, a 5.85 rod with s 4.00 liner and JE pistons means a 385
I think thats close to 600hp with cams

Lee,
What size is big end bearing and what crank throw are you considering to get 385 CID?

These were rods Paul D bought from Lingenfelter or John Marshall; appears they are 385 rods...takeouts as he went to 415
The ZR-1 featured here is just what the doctor ordered on all counts. Drop-shipped directly to Lingenfelter, the LT5 was immediately stroked out to displace 385 cubic inches, and produced 575 horsepower at the flywheel. Since then, it has been further stroked out to 415 cubic inches, and now produces in the neighborhood of 630 horsepower.

Hey Lee
I think this might be getting a little off on the info. I'll put my 2 cent in...
The 5.850 rods are a up grade for the 350-441 ci motors. This helps the rod angle in the motors for less piston side load. The factory rods are a very nice "stock" rod, but are 5.740 long. This would increase rod angle. Most would say this is a bad thing ( I think that way too). Some of us went to a 6.00 rod. This longer rod can only be used up to a 4.00 stroke ( 350-402, or big bore 427). The 415,441 with the 4.125 stroke will not use the 6.00 rod( pin is to high up in the rings). Any ways these Oliver rods you have will work VERY nice in any LT5 up to 441ci. The pistons will be ordered for the 5.850, this will locate the pin in the correct spot. For anyone looking to upgrade any ci LT5 These are the SH*@ Olivers will hold Massive power, N2O, Turbo, whatever...
