The Barren River (http://www.barrenriverblog.com/?p=1261)(that pesky stream next to Beach Bend Dragway) flooded last week.

Short story...It wasn't predicted to be that far over flood stage, apparently, and it is within it's banks (barely) now. Not much more than a slight chance of rain, one day between now and the 14th (according to Accuweather, which I find to be pretty accurate, lately). Hopefully the dragstrip will be OK. Keeping fingers crossed!!

Has blowing holes in the leeves up north improved the river levels around BG?

The levee that was blown was in southeast missouri, on the mississippi river, right above, the ohio river.
I am certain The Creek that borders the beach bend raceway, is but a small tributary, and not connected to the Mississippi river which is
over a 100 miles away , so, to anwser your question.
No,
Blowing the leeve actually did little to relieve the pressure on the Mississippi river, although it did lower the levels, at Cairo Ill. some 3 feet, but with all the added rain, the area's near the Mississippi river our gonna experience record floods before it's all said and done.
