Anyone do the autocross, I'm sure it's a stupid question. We're having practice this weekend at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids Iowa on Saturday, I'm thinking of doing it since I never have. We have some guys in the club that are pretty serious about it. :)

Hey, give me some advanced notice if they have more in CR...I went to college there and would love to go back and visit and come see some autocross in action, even give it a shot myself if possible.
Cool stuff

I do autocross but prefer DE's. But when you can?t make the long haul to a track or it just doesn?t fit into the schedule autocross is still a good time.
On a separate note; I was signed up for the autocross at The Gathering next week and they canceled it due to ?Lack of Participation? I guess not many at The Gathering don't do that anymore...

Probably will be some informal autocrossing in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn after a few beverages....

Cool stuff Will do Lee, I'll check the schedule and let you know when the real thing is happening. I know they are going to have it at the national deal in Chicago this year.

Do it. ZR-1's are a blast in an auto-x. I take mine to every event I can.

Do you even leave 1st gear with 3.45s

I was wondering the same thing myself, not sure how fast you get going on the course. I guess I will see this weekend since it looks like the weather will be nice for once.

Yes. I run most of the courses we have down here in 2nd. There's only been 1 course I could run in 1st, but I was still tagging the rev limiter at a couple points and you have to be VERY careful with the throttle...really easy to blow the tires off accelerating out of a corner with the LT5 at 5k+ :D
If you haven't run many short course races, it'll probably help for you first couple runs to short shift into second and just leave it there so you can focus on your lines through the corners and not over power the rear tires too easily.

-Jordan Jordan, by blowing the tires off do you mean smoking them out of the corner? I sure wouldn't think the tires would come off the rims, but maybe I'm wrong.

Sorry, yes I just mean spinning the tires. It's very easy to over power the tires when you're coming out of a tight corner at slow speed with the engine wound up in 1st.

I was signed up to autocross myself. There were only three people signed up. I was disappointed. I was just there last week, with my Z06, and took first place for the C6 class. We had at least twenty participants for that event. I was hoping to get another first with the ZR-1.

Congrats on the first place with your Z06 Joe. I'll see how it goes this weekend, I hope it isn't too much fun, I may have another hobby I need time and money for. Gotta go to the strip though and try that too.

If you're a competitor, which I'm certain you are, you will have fun!
