Heat cycling new (Nitto) tires

This is prolly old hat to autoban drivers, but new to me...(as are many things when it comes to racing).

Looking at drag radials on the Discount Tire site, under the Nitto 555r, there is a reference to having the tires heat cycled before driving on them. Hmmmm.... Veddy intorestink! Am I the only one that never heard of that before?

I had one set of nt-01 heat cycled, they did seem to wear good I thought the traction stayed more consistant through through life. First set was not heat cycled, could of been my imagination, but they seemed to get greasier with high temps.

Some at the track with two sets of wheels run about 10 minutes, get them up to 180 or 200, and then remove them for 24 hours to let the rubber finish curing. DIY heat cycle on drag radials might be trickier to get to the correct temp.

Some think it doesn't make much difference whether their cycled or not, but if you want the edge....might make a difference:dontknow:
