I'm trying to install the drivetrain into EX5023 and have a question.

I have 1990 exhaust and there is a flange on the passenger side of the exhaust. There is NO FLANGE on the exhaust manifold. HOW DO THE TWO ATTACH???????????

Does anyone have a picture of the two pieces mating together?

It seems that there would be a sleeve with a triangular flange attached that would clamp to the exhaust manifold and then attach to the traingular flange on the exhaust. If so, I would like to buy one from someone.

Thanks
Brett

Brett,
It seems like you are missing part of the exhaust manifold. The two should mate up together with a gasket between them. The gasket part # is 10147973 from GM. I'm not sure if this is still available. If it not I have a couple available.
Hope this helps, Dennis

You probably need a ball flange....I had to set that up on my 90 also

Thanks Dennis. Lee, the driver's side has a ball flange but the passenger side exhaust pipe just has the triangular flange. I can see on the flange where a gasket has been. It looks like a I need a sleeve with a flange welded to it to go onto the CAT. The sleeve would attach with a clamp.

Does anyone know if this is how the stock setup is?

Here is what I have o work with, so far.

I have a ball flange on the driver's side of the CAT with the matching type of ball flange on the pipe exhaust. They meet up good. The flange on the passenger side exhaust pipe is "flat" flange though. Not a ball type. It's had a gasket on it before as well for another flat flange. Hope this helps???

Someone surely has a pic of the flange on the CAT??

Like this. You can see the flange and sleeve.

Mine shows just a slip fit on the P/S

Here is a pic of the CAT that looks like miine. My CAT does slip into the pipes but what would hold it besides the triangular flange? A clamp, maybe?

Thats a 93-95 Ps Manifold

That must be the problem. I'll have to have a sleeve/flange fabbed up at the muffler shop.

Thanks, Lee!!

All 1990-1991 have a ball end on driver side and triangle flat flange on passenger side.

Lee has a 1992 they have the slip fit on the passenger side.

Some of the larger diameter cat-back exh systems had a slip over pipe with a triangular flange. My car came with a 3" B&B setup and had a 2-3/4's adapter pipe to a 3" flange. It was welded permanently.

I had to have a mating flange welded up on my Corsa. I prefer it this way anyhow because the slip fit might leak or be difficult to align at some point.

Lee, previous owner probably took it off.

When my cats went bad and I had to replace both manifolds I had to beat that collector/flange with a rubber mallet damn near 100 times before I got it off. That thing was on there good.

Hello Brett,

I just found this after posting a WTB for this part you were looking for too. Were you able to the part you needed from Marc? It seems just like a typical header collector, but I don't find it in 3" to 2.75"; maybe I just get one of those and open up the 3" to
2.5" to 2.75" to slip over the pipe?

Thanks,

Craig
