So I installed my Coilovers and of course I now have the SRC Light (Code 33, 34)

I pulled the driver side wheel off and removed the shock. looks like the gear was not up enough to make contact with the Actuator. so I took care of that and attempted to reset the Controller, but I am not sure I am doing it right. I still have the 33, 34 (not touched the 34 yet). I even tried to hook up the old shock which worked fine, tried my spare actuator..

I know they work, as I hear them, feel them when key is on. Weird thing is the old shock either sets a 33 or I am not resetting the controller right.

Shop manual says short A and C of ALDL for 2 seconds and repeat this 3 times

but how do I know it has been reset or do I need to fix BOTH sides before I reset it

Any help would be great

Did you have the shocks that are on there rebuilt? If so, they will set a code for a while. If not, the 4mm height above surface of gear mounting cup is critical. I have heard of folks getting it too high and breaking the gear.

Not rebuilt, but new ones from Corvette America. Marc had said the gears seemed tight. So I guess that is the problem I know about the gear height and confirmed wit Marc H. When I took the left off it was not set rift. Now it makes contact with gear and is slightly lower re the one it replaced which should be fine according to Marc.

Now what is the exact way to reset the SRC? key on/off 3 times are remove/replace jumper (A&C) 3 times?

Yep I have that same page. But is it ground 3 times for 2 seconds or turn key 3 times for 2 seconds?

Also how long did it take for the shocks to 'wear in' and allow the codes to cleared. It sounds like the left rear matches the front as far as movement. It sounds like the right rear it not correct on key on either. That one is next

I would think leave key on as cycling would abort your attempt.

Rebuilt shocks broke in after about 200ish miles--which for me was a long time.

LOL.. Thanks Ted.. I will go under the assumption that the new Corvette America Shocks are just like rebuilt ones, My guess is the gears and such are tighter..

At least dropping the shocks down is not too bad, I do need a stubby 13mm wrench to make it a bit easier.

Okay did some more research.. the issue you saw ted was a code for time out.. mine are codes of out of position. After reading this: http://www.zr1netregistry.com/sixsteps.htm and asking Marc h they both said my issue is different

I need to fix the other side then I will reset and see where I am, but it sure looks like the Actuators are working as they should

I have the Out of position error, what else should I check?

Jeff

How much were the Shocks? Corvette central?

Another 1990/1991 owner might need them

Thanks

I got them at Corvette America.. list is $207.99 But I am able to go through a member of my local club that handles the club orders and I go a discount on them, I forget exactly what I paid, but it was better then any other place I looked

This is where I got mine. Check out the link, go to the bottom of the page.

http://eshocks.com/bil_veh.asp?Model_Index=7Q33&Manf=Bilstein&SubChar=Q

bottom is for 89 - 91, the rest are about at the middle of the page.

Jeff the crown height to actuator height is critical. When I installed these brand new I received the same errors as I also installed new bushings from DRM as well. I let the weight of the car compress them for about a week. Now pull the shocks and make sure the top thread of the internal shock rod is 1.5 threads above the top nut. Use a wrench in the slot on the shock rod to prevent it from turning while tightening down. Reinstall and clear the codes.

yes that is what Marc h said, but it was more critical to be too far over then a slight bit under..

Once I pull the Pass Side, I will match it to the ones I removed ( I had all the extra pieces) and will see if I can get the pass side working.. then move back to the driver side

FIXED!!

right side gear was not set right, which I knew. So I fixed that, adjusted the coilover height and put it back together. Now, I had codes 33 & 34, on Sunday when I fixed the Left side, I tried to clear codes and expected 33 to go away but 34 to remain, but I still had both 33 & 34. so after I got the right side done and mostly mounted I thought I should test before fully assembling.. Get the keys and what do you know.. ALL COdes are cleared.

I find it odd that I could not clear the left but once both were fixed they all cleared. I am not complaining.. glad it is good to go
