Is it just me or does the '90 ZR1 not have front speakers?

They are on the ground near the door jam.
The car only has 4 speakers total.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone know if they are in the door panel or under the dash or something?

If you were sitting in the drivers seat. They are below the door next to your calf

If your speaker amps aren't working well, sound volume may be affected. They can also make a real loud squeal when they die and it is a possibility someone just unplugged them.

I disagree with the phrase that they "suck"... if speakers are in good condition and the individual amps are working correctly the speakers (as in the collective four of them) are better than many modern (as in 2010+ vehicles) stereo systems. But each to their own...

So who is the best at rebuilding the amps and how much does it cost? Any one know?

I had Bose rebuild all my speakers. They aren't bad, but they sure aren't good. If the Bose setup in my newer cars sounded like them, I'd be pretty pissed.

If your amps work right, the Bose sounds OK, but I wouldn't compare it to newer highend cars. Part of the suck is that the vette interior isn't the best acoustical compartment, but anyhow...
Bose amps cost a fortune so I repaired my own. it was fun and a bit of a treasure hunt to find used ones in the junkyard. some Nissans have them.
the post below is from the other place and contains a link right back here at the Registry (which has the most comprehensive write up).

If you want easy, I'd take the Nissan Maxima/Infiniti clone front & rear amps and use those for C4 front & rear amps because the speaker sizes are similar. Some will be bad, so get two cars worth. I only spent $15 or so to get spares. I personally plucked parts off my Nissan ones, but they sounded the same to me when I tested it beforehand.
Good used ones can be had for $40 from a Florida vette salvage place via ebay.

Mainly because they were local and I could talk to the person working on my amps.
They did a great job and sound pretty good considering what they are.
Took a little longer than advertised, but who coulda predicted we were going to get that much damn snow around here.

I would agree on this one.If everything is working right this system sounds great considering its 20+ years old.I sent everything to Dr Don to have them repaired but had an odd experience with this place.I marked all my amps so I could get them back in the same corners.Got a call from the company that 2 of the amps were total junk and couldn't be repaired and would need to be replaced. So I asked for the parts back,I keep everything that comes off the car for the most part.Guy tells me he would have to charge me more if he sent me back my bad amps,he needed my old amps for a core charge. If these were junk what could the guy possibly use?I get all my parts back and ALL of the rebuilt amps had the mark I put on them before I sent these out.Now the mark I put on these was on the small cover that slides off, maybe the cover was transfered to the replaced amps, who knows.Ive never heard anything negative about Dr Dons so I would like to think everything was on the level.Regardless the stereo sounds great and has for several years now.
