Hi , I,m new to the forum,I am looking for any info on removing of the steam ,air lines on the sides of the intake above the main coolant lines to the motor, I have seen other show cars with lt 5 not running these line , but what might be probles you,ll have ??

Hi, I think those lines that run down the sides of the plenum are for the circulation that warms the T-body and the plenum. I believe the function of that circulation is to keep the T-body warm in cold climates?

You may want to look at the Helm manual's cooling diagrams to see for sure what the results of blocking that stuff off. I can't see why you can't do it but I'm sure the cold weather operation would be affected.

Really cleans up the lines of the LT5. Less clutter mainly.

To look great, you would have to remove the hard lines for the coolant on the plenum and then seal that off, then my solution is to weld the external "T" and 90 degree elbows off after they have been removed and make them blend in and then also weld the hole in the injector housing where the coolant flows through so you never have to worry about it again when removing the plenum.

Okay, I can see the cosmetic issue. The hoses are black & stand out too much. I think that is a lot of work to do it the right way as Jeff says.

What about using the LT5 paint on them so they match the engine color. Or if you really want the "look" get them in S/S braided replacement segments?

If you remove them are you really gonna change the air/fuel charge temp that much???

If I thought it would cool the plenum down to remove them Id do it, never see an icy condition out here.

Gentlemen, good morning, I have been reading this post and I am a bit confused (not hard to believe), but these lines that are dicussing what do they exactly look like, it's been 4 months since I have seen my car, any pictures.

They are for air bleeding and throttle body temp. I dont have them, but without the air bleed hoses, it takes a different approach to air bleeding. The throttle hose is required in cold air temps.

Hi,

I also have a plenum coolant bypass from my previous owner. What different
approaches for air bleeding do you mean.
I am very scared of air problems in cooling systems since I have a Jaguar V12
which had a bad overheating problem.

I have never air bled my car...no problems so far! Please don't put the ZR-1 in the same category as a Jaguar. :-) If your car is overheating...you probably need to remove the radiator and clean out the fins...for starters. Lotta junk gets in there that you CANNOT see while the radiator is in the car. Pull it out and clean it...you will be surprised how much crap is in there. Aftermarket radiator is a good idea too...
