As an FYI, I had begun to notice a grinding groaning sound coming from the drivers rear wheel when taking left handed sweepers. Noticed more on slower speeds than higher. Last week had the opportunity to have the BR car up on Pete's lift and he saw that the rear left wheel had play in it where the others did not. So this weekend I got ready to swap hub bearings from my 92 Aqua car. When I put the 36mm socket on the spindle nut to remove the axle stub, it took ABSOLUTELY NO TORQUE to get it to spin. The FSM calls for 164lbft. WOW! It was grinding up against the cotter pin and washer. The wheel was moving in and out.
Jeff reminded me that the same thing happened when I got the Aqua car.
Al at Brakes Plus found it that time. Thought I had a bad hub bearing but no it was a un-torqued spindle nut.
Funny part is these 2 cars were built 8 days apart in late May and early June 1992.

I've found its a good idea to check the spindle nut torque whenever you have the chance. If the spindle nut loosens up enough to start working in the spines you could end up having to relace both the bearing and spindle if run to long.

New bearings I've bought came with specs for 190 lbs.

FSM says 164. I guess that's still better than nohin'.

Mine still loosens at 190 and bends the safety tabs over when I take it to the roadtrack. I need to learn toe heal shifting better, I believe it's from hard downshifts, or something. I've had to retorque it 5 or 6 times, both sides. Left side loosens the worse.
