Found this on eBay, no reserve auction. Will be interesting to see how much it goes for. I don't like the purple though, they should have left it Steel Blue. But it's got some nice mods which result in 421 RWHP according to the seller and of course the awesome Aerobody.

Wish I had the coin, I'd love to have this car. Course I'd have to get it repainted back to the original color.

The purple exterior with the blue interior looks kinda funky to me. I've worked on the car a little when it was in Wichita Falls, TX.

I would like to see this car in Steel Cities Gray, like the new ZR1, with tinted windows.

Not a fan of the color, kit, or interior color, but different strokes for different folks.

It is clear that this was someones baby though from the condition. Hope the seller strikes a mint for it, and someone enjoys the hell out of it.

I had a metallic Purple LT1 car. It was actually originally black, but the original owner was a female and had it redone at some point. It was a top notch job too. I can tell you that I got compliments from (older, way older) women all the time with that color, but when it came time to sell it, only about 1 in 5 men would even entertain the thought of it. I bought it cheap and sold it cheap- it was a good car, but there is a 'purple discount' for sure.

I would expect the price to be less on this one also.

A buddy of mine had a purple 95 (Barney) with a gray interior. That was a georgeous car no doubt about it.

Are the twin hood scoops functional,or just for looks? Not big on that type of scoop.....more the cowl induction type ('69 Camaro).

Maybe he sold it local?

perhaps, but when you start something to auction, and you have bidders it should be left to run its course imho. That is why you set it for the least amount you will take for it, and let it go. Never understood that crapola

The 'buy-it-now' version of auction seems like a free classified ad if you end up selling it face-to-face.

Auction........now there's an interesting word!!.....did you ever see a phone bidder get a lower priced item on Barrett Jackson? Seems phone bidders are always on the high end stuff......maybe sellers saying "no sell...I'll pay the auction fee". Or maybe you have to pay Craig more money to take phone bidders.... I could be wrong and probably am..........but just my observation numerous times. Something is wrong when both the seller and buyer have to pay a % of the sale!

ALRIGHT,

SOMBODY FESS UP, WHO GOT IT?

DO TELL.........

I gotta agree on the color, Steel Blue woulda looked better to me then the purp, but thats just MHO, sure gets the car noticed even if its for the wrong reason!

Car looks different to me for some reason as I remember when Clint had it and then sold it to Paul Cavins, I thought it had 17's on it then, I asked the seller and he said 18's had been on it for quite a while.

The truth will surface......Always does.

Yep, that was my car at one time. I bought it from Clint Hooper in 2003 (who bought it from Bryan Bowkers in Arizona). Those OZ 3-piece wheels are the same as when I had it, no change there. I think Clint took those off his red 1990 ZR1 and put them on this one. The car was sold new in Florida and the Callaway Aerobody was installed by a Corvette shop in Colorado, that is when the color change was done. They actually did a pretty decent job with the color change. However, the purple would not have been my first choice, maybe black. It does have the Doug Rippie DRM 500 package done to it as well. I put all of the receipts for the modifications and upgrades-which are many- in a 3 ring binder. It is a very well documented car. At one time a couple of years back Mark Sidwell (the gentleman I sold it to) had it for sale on this site for around $40k I think. The scoops on the hood are not functional. However, someone cut holes in the hood for some strange reason when they were installed. When you wash the car, water will get all over the engine compartment as a result. Paul C.

There were 3 Callaway ZR1 that Reeves put twin turbos on. If you call them in Old Lyme, CT with your VIN# they will tell you if you have a Callaway car or a ZR1 with a Callaway body. Does you car have TT?

If it says Reese that can be a big issue, His name is Reeves Callaway.

well, according to your V.I.N. of 0120 that car started out as Charcoal exterior & Grey Interior. 23 ZR-1's in 91 had your original color combo, there were 27 Charcoal cars total for 91 ZR-1 production.

I can also tell you that the car was never entered into our "Owner's data base" either because the owner(s) never joined the registry or the member owner(s) declined to submit any info on the car.

The twin-turbos were on L98 cars, not ZR-1s. The only TT ZR-1's were the two super speedsters, or the regular bodied quasar blue one. Believe me, you'd know if you had one of those.

On the ZR-1, everything was aftermarket, there was no GM Callaway package.

The Aerobody can be purchased by itself. You don't have to have Callaway engine work done to the car. It sounds like that's what Callaway has told you was done in this case.

Post up some pictures, a charcoal metallic aerobody sounds pretty cool.

I dont want to scare you. But I also dont want to see you shell shocked when Callaway quote you the prices. With a premium Paint job with front and rear bumpers I am guessing you are going to spend between 15K and 20K.

The entire kit is only (well, "only") like $9k. And he just needs the front bumper. I wouldn't think it would cost $15-20k to get it sorted, but I'm sure it won't be cheap as far as bumper replacements go.

I agree. I think you are looking at $15-20K if you were buying the whole kit and then finishing it. The rear clip needs very little work to be ready for paint...the rest...not so much.

I have to admit you guys are tight when it comes to ZR1s I had know idea what I was in for and I like it!!! If someone could find out if it would be a problem to contact the old owner about this car I would love it. With it being signed by Reeves Callaway and a areobody I want to make it correct. I feel like there is some history with this car

Used to be owned by John Annon.... I think that was his name, long time since I've seen him. He's the tall guy in the background of the second pic. My car at the time was the red one parked next to his.

I forget the whole story but the car was a little on the rough side... pretty much a racer toy for Craig (a Tacoma Fireman). Haven't seen him for a few years, not sure if he still has it or not. It had 315's up front on GS rims.

I wonder if there are 335's on the rear? It's one heck of a meaty look. I just mounted 335's on 13" wide wheels on the rear of my 90. It looks outrageous from the rear. 315's up front on 11" wheels.

you can also run 335's on the stock 11", they tuck a bit but they work

It's truth I have callaway areobody on my zr1 ,
But I swear of God sometimes I wish if it remain stock body, specially 90 style  and to be black color But my dark red also my best paint.
I thought to buy another 90 zr1 as stock body , but I know I can not care of 2 . One love is enough!!

Hey guys, I need some help. I am working on a Callaway ZR1 that was damaged in the front. I just got my new nose peice from Callaway and it doesnt seem to line up very good. The hood was damaged on the 91 ZR1 and I had a 1986 hood. My question , Is the hood the same or is there some little difference that I have not picked up on? thatnks John Nelson

There is an indentation for the AC canister on the underside. You should really have an 89 up hood. The radiator is slanted back more on the 89up cars as well.
