View Full Version : ZR-1 Northeast Get Together

Mystic ZR-1
03-09-2011, 11:31 AM
ZR-1 Net Registry Northeast get together: Saturday, July 9, 2011 @ American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. Lime Rock,Connecticut

Lime Rock is sort of centrally located in the Northeast and will make a great place for a ZR-1 get together, of course all ZR-1s from everywhere are more than welcome and encouraged to attend. All the "hard work" is already done by the good folks who run the "Corvette Corral" (not to mention the great goody bag they hand out) all we have to do is show up and watch the C6Rs kick some butt and show off to the rest of the Corvette (and Porsche etc.) world why the ZR-1 is so special and is the most unique Corvette ever built. If the rest of the world doesn't understand or agree, it's their loss...
Note: this ZR-1 get together is not put on or run by the "Corvette Corral", (but it has been sanctioned by the ZR-1 Net Registry) we'll just be attending and having our own get together @ their event .
Tickets for the Corral (car & driver) must purchased prior to the event, by phone or the Lime Rock website, see below. Tickets for your lucky passenger may be purchased ahead of time or @ the the gate on the day of the event. Bring a folding chair and a cooler!

We're trying to set up a ZR-1 only parade lap of the track (seperate from parade lap mentioned below) stay tuned for updates

info: Doug, aka: Mystic ZR-1 @ dmarshall2003@comcast.net (dmarshall2003@comcast.net)

Lime Rock again offers the fun and camaraderie of Porsche and Corvette Car Corrals as part of the ALMS Northeast Grand Prix event. Corrals include guaranteed infield parking as well as a parade lap! Parade laps are offered on Saturday to the first 50 cars that arrive at the track from each make. Note: CAR CORRAL TICKETS ARE NOT SOLD ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT, ONLY BY ADVANCE PURCHASE. Includes admission to Lime Rock Park.

I am a (relatively, since last year) new ZR-1 owner here in CT. I would really like to attend some of these events. Unfortunately, the timing for these events always seems to conflict with other things in my life.

This one sounds great, but I'll be pn vacation and I can't change that. I'll be looking for more events to attend in 2011.

Welcome to the registry. There is a posting in the Northeast section with events for 2011. We will be meeting in eastern New York the end of June at Lebanon Valley dragway and also there is a super event planned for Mystic, CT in early October. Hope you can attend.

When the weather gets better, please bring your beast over to the Tues. night corvette cruise at Burgerittoville in Newtown, CT. Sponsored by Candlewood Valley CC and just off Exit 10 on I-84. Should start up in a couple weeks and usually runs around 5:30 - dusk.

Please drop me a line if you need/want more info.

Tom -

Usually later this month when things warm up. Exit 10 on I-84 is 15 miles east of the NY/CT border. Burgeritoville is 1/4 mile West from the exit, about 100 yards after going under the train bridge.

I'll try to remember to post up here when it starts.

Thank you Scott. It'll give me something to do on a Tuesday evening instead of watching TV.

Who knows I maybe able to drag another ZR-1 along with me as I'll mention this to Lou from Norwalk.

Lou -

No. The old Sycamore is still there - the Syc. is on the Bethel/Danbury border on Route 53. Burgerittoville is just a Tues. night informal Vette gathering right off I-84 (actually on Route 6). Easy on-easy off.

I hope the group will start gathering next week....weather permitting. Tonight was sure a bust.........Will post up when I hear it's on.

Tom & Scott,
I'll try to make it for a Tuesday nite get together, but I can't make it for a couple weeks due to prior commitments (even us retirees have prior commitments...). It's about an hour & 20 or so from Mystic. I spoke w/Lou the other day, hopefully he can make it too.
Tom: give me a call when you decide to go.

Would be great to have you drive up! Next good weather evening should mark the start of the events. There is food available right where we park so please don't feel like you need to stop for a bite before showing up (unless of course you want to).

You got it Doug. I also will not be able to clear Tuesday nights until after the Gathering at BG. Tuesday nights after 5/17 look to be okay for me. I've got a class at night that meets every Tuesday till then.

Burgerittoville is definitely a go this evening...there will also be a local reporter doing a story tonight. 6:00 PM start.

FYI, Doug and I both took home trophies from the weekend show in New Hampshire. Great show....would like to have seen a few more ZR-1s there.....

My 94 Admiral had some photos taken of it and posted on the "other forum" under the Northeast events section by one of the attendees. Doug and are can also be seen conversing in the background of one of the earlier shots...no doubt a serious discussion about our beasts!!!!

Doug, I'll ask Lou and let you know, or he may call you directly. Lou has been very busy at work. They're remodeling the HQ and he is overseeing a lot of the work. I'll ask when I see him this weekend.

I would be up for it for sure. They allow ZR-1's with body damage? You sure you guys want to be seen with me & my car? It isn't likely to be repaired by then.:p The guy is claiming to Geico that he didn't damage my car.

Sooooo, I'll be on my way close to 5 PM or before if I get lucky. Figure I should get there by 6 PM hopefully. I'm going to do a mapquest to see what my flight path options are.
