I have the old ECM out of my 92 and was wanting to swape cases with the one I bought. The case on it is not show quality. What is the trick in slidding the csae off after all of the screws are removed?
I will be sending my old one in for a rebuild so I will have a spare.

Thanks!
Don

Don, you want to swap out the MoBo from one case to the other, right?

The terminal end, where the 4 plugs are, is potted? I think I'm using the correct term? I never looked all that closely. I would think that a hair dryer would melt/loosen the sealer. I'm not entirely sure as I never tried what you want to do...if I understand you correctly. For sure I'd pull the PROM out before doing anything as it don't look like it would fit thru the case end mounted to the MoBo.

It will come apart. You just have to pry carefully to get the rubber gasket on the connector end to let loose. Just do it slowly so as not to rip the gasket.

vettvet,

Thanks for your advise! I did pry the case back slowly from the terminal end and then used a very small knife to pry the gasket from the case. It took some time, but finally came apart. The whole internal unit slide out very easily after the gasket was pryed from the case.
I will now do the same to the other ECM that I bought and put my good case on the good ECM.
I will then be looking for someone to send the bad ECM to to hopefully repair it to have a spare for me or someone on the ZR-1 web site.

Thanks!
Don

Don,

No problem! Glad you got it apart. I had the same problem with mine until I realized that it was just the rubber gasket. I had to put some real force into it to get that sucker to let loose.
