Just got my Corsa exhaust installed and discovered that my mufflers tip are pressing up againstthe bumper cover with only a few threads started on the muffler hanger bolts. The system I installed was pre-welded, so I don't have the luxury of loosening clamps and making the adjustment. I will need to get longer bolts and a spacer to give me proper clearance. I have heard other members say that there hanger bolts are really long. Was this hanger made with different length bolts? If nothing else guess I will need to fabricate a new bracket with longer bolts.

I just measured the hanger bolts on my 1990 ZR-1 and there is 1 3/8 inch of bolt below the frame. There are about 2 threads exposed below the nut that secures the rubber block. SO, I guess I was wrong about your "U-bolts" being short.
I took some other measurements but I will need to use a camera to describe the parameters. I will post them up in a few minutes.

Yeah, I am hoping Phil chimes in because I thought he was saying that the bolts on his car were super long and he had thought about cutting them.

I took some more measurements:
Top of tang that the muffler hangs on to the bottom of the outlet pipes is 5 - 5/8 inches. (The picture shows the measurement a little off because I couldn't get a good angle with the camera.)

Frame above front of the muffler can to the top edge of the can is 4 1/2 inches:

I hope this helps Rich. If you need more measurements, let me know.

Hey Rich, The bolts on my 1993 look like Phil's (but no where near as clean). I guess that is why I remembered long bolts.
I will be glad to trade you my long bolts for your length-defficient set if you want to try putting spacers above the rubber blocks to adjust you tip clearance.
Let me know. I can take them out Thursday and give them to David. He will be at George's on Saturday for the header install. Or, we can meet up in the future, but I have shows the next three weekends.

Jim, Yeah, that would save me some fabrication of new brackets. Phil is fixing me up with some spacers. If you want to give them to David, we can swap on Saturday.
Thanks Jim!

Rich, The Exhaust Bracket Bolts have departed Westminster and are on their way to George's Garage. Have fun on Saturday, I wish I could join you guys for the header install.

Is it just tacked? Or welded all the way around? Because using longer bolts and spacers seems like the wrong way to fix the problem, if you can just grind off the welding.
For the record, though, mine are shorter like Jim's, they don't have lots of extra thread like Phil's picture.

Agreed Bob, one joint at the center of the pipe coming of the muffler is welded all the way around, the other's may just be taked need to check. I don't need a lot of space, I just want to get it away from the bumper cover.
