The CD player in my radio has not worked since I purchased my car. I pulled the radio out to send to Doctor Dons for a check-up and repair. Unfortunately, when I was taking the radio cover off, I dropped one of the spring clips that hold the plastic cover to the dash. I think it dropped down along the center console, but am not exactly sure where. I only heard it twang when I pulled the plastic radio cover off. I have not been able to find it or to fish it out with my flexible magnet.

I tried to find another, but, am told the spring clip is no longer available from GM or from any other place I have looked.

Does anyone know where I can find the clip (GM part # 10175544). It will be helpful when the radio comes back if I can reassemble the plastic radio cover with the correct spring clip.

This is a picture of the clip I need to finish installing the radio cover plate on my dash. The clip is 1-1/2" long, 1/2" wide and the spring is 1/8" deep. I have asked two body shops and they don't have anything like this.

The small end has teeth on it and slides into a hole in the plastic cover plate to hold it firm. The large end snaps into a square hole in the dash.

I will try Doctor Dons tomorrow.

I hope someone has an idea where I can find one. :dancing

Thanks for pointing that out to me Hammer. That's all I need is another comedian. :p Maybe you could spare one of the clips in YOUR car. ;)

I can probably get by without the clip, but I would just as soon put both of them in when I put the dash back together.

I am hoping that now that I have posted a picture of the remaining one that I have, that someone will possibly have one. The fact that there are none left in inventory where I have looked tells me that it is not uncommon to lose this part back behind the dash.

Wish me luck :dancing

I would think asking Dr. Don if he has one would be your best bet at this point. Again, good luck.

short of taking out the console....maybe buy a non-ZR-1 replacement face trim plate and scavenge the clip? I think the places like Ecklers, corvette central and Zip sell the regular trim plates.

Not trying to be a wise guy. :o

That clip was used in Olds Cutlas in the late 70ss, early 80s on the radio plates. I believe also 88 and 98 Olds of that time frame.

Found someone in Florida who is parting out a C4 and selling the parts on Ebay. He has the clip I have been searching for. Even sent me a picture of the clip to be sure it is the right one. Nice fella. Offered to send it to me at no charge. I told him his time and effort are worth a lot to me, so send me a bill with the part. :dancing

There are a lot of good people out there, and sometimes you find them in the least expected places. It's what makes us human.
