I got my Dymags back from the media blaster. I am really happy I had them reblasted. Im thinking maybe just having them cleared in place of a color powdercoat. Maybe polished ? I was pleasantly suprised to find out they fit without spacers!

They look good. I just bought another set and will do the same to mine.

Give us some pics of them on the car when you mount them.

If I didn't like the look of the stock wheels so much I would just buy a new set of wheels for my car but I think I may need to do the same with mine. Anyone do their insets/cutouts in the stock wheels black? Yours would look good polished, I think polished looks better than chrome.

You know once the magic coating is removed they will turn into a pile of ashes within 24-48hrs.

Need to put the conversion coating back on Dow 7, Zinc Chromate Primer, or Prekote. Otherwise it will Gas and bubble....try Aircraft spruce for the products.

All of those or ONE OF THOSE?

One of those......an expoxy primer will work too, but if you are clearing, then obviously primer is not needed.

Or keep it as is and use the Gibbs

Your wheels turned out great! Magnesium will polish and look fantastic, however they start to oxidize very quickly. Plan on polishing every 1-2 weeks to keep them looking good if you are driving much. Ask me how I know!

Lee, the plan was to drop them off sat to get finished. But Ive been snowed inat work and have to make a emergency trip out of town. How long before damage starts happening. From my research a couple weeks ?

Ken they really do not get damaged.....look at all of the 50s/60s Gasser wheels that are still around, Magnesium is used bare on engine/transmission parts.....Oxidation will form, but that really is not a big deal. Not prepping them means that the paint will not stick, people overract to magnesium wheels. MAgnesium is just not as flexible as alum and will snap or crank vs bend

You are fine..

Dropped the wheels off today. Decided on a satin clear powercoat . If i was rich I would have gone with the polish and clear PC , but Im really happy with the raw casting look. They should be done in about 10 days.

They do look great When you say outgas them is this where someone was talking about heating them up before, I'm going to paint mine with clearcoat. If it is then how hot do you need to do it and for how long? I found a place to soda blast mine for $125 for the set and it close by. Thanks!

I thought you want to prevent outgassing after the PC is applied - have to cool gradually versus just pulling them out of the oven.

Got the wheels finished today. Went with clear satin powdercoat. Gives the wheel a nice finisch. Just undecided if I want to install the large centercaps or leave the lugs exposed. Im think caps on the passenger side only and see if anyone notices....

I say leave the cap on- brake dust will get everywhere.

Those wheels look better with the cap on, in my opinion. Only reason not to use the cap is if you have Challenge wheels that weren't drilled for it, or if you don't have any caps (they are crazy expensive).

The wheel looks more "finished" with the cap on.

The big caps are not that bad.....you just have to be patient, I paid $62 for all 4 of mine in the original box.

Those rims are my favorite for a c4. I think they look the best when they match a Challenge car rim. Plain no cap at all.

He has all 4 big caps, he wanted to know which to run, big or small. I still say big. makes the wheel look complete
