I'll reserve my comments and let others make them but they are supposed to be experts on sports cars?
Pick one up for $12,000 :blahblah: He saw a nice one sell for $9,000.
I swear they are trying kill the value of the ZR-1.
Meanwhile the same publication picked my Z for an award with Chubb Collector.
Do they just hate Z's?

I guess I missed the negativity Jim. I didn't really get that those two guys were putting down the car, to be truthful & this is JMHO...they didn't really seem to know much about the car just like most people who never owned one.
Maybe I'm cutting those guys more slack than they deserve? They sound like most people that I've meet at cruise in's & even semi-seriously judged shows. The knowledge of a C4 ZR-1 is just flat missing any depth beyond what you learn from here say, or what may have been in the chevy sales booklet in the showroom. They don't even sound like they remembered anything that was written in the car mags of the period?
At least I learned something from the auction results. My car is worth 1/2 what I paid for it! Soooo I guess I'll just drive the wheels off of it & not worry about what I'm doing to some possible future value! The miles of smiles are worth the loss in resale value to me.

They have a huge sports car collector values magazine and they always write articles on collector cars. You are right thought, they both didn't have a clue and the guy must have seen an lt1 go for 9k lol
I agree, enjoy your z.

I didn't sense any negativety either. Just seemed like the red diaper dopper baby with the pony tail just got briefed about ZR-1'S before the segment. Nice car for $14,500. Sorry but id have to port and polish that top end as soon as I got it. Just a prerequisite with me.
What I gathered is there is a light on at the end of the tunnel. The day's of recognition for the C4 ZR1 is still a way off. Life's short enjoy your car.

Sometimes things that are not personal are taken so by people who have an emotional attachment to something. We are all proud of what we own, so the tendency is always there.
These are just two people talking about something they have little to no knowledge about, let alone an emotional attachment to.

Some of us might not like eachother very much but come together like a hornets nest when the C5/C6 guys on the CF want to come over and throw rocks at the nest. And xlr8inflorida is one of the first ones out of the nest to attack. Hahaha! I love it.

Well said... These two guys are clueless and shouldn't be talking about something they know nothing about! :blahblah:

Hey brother I am going to be up in Maryland for a couple weeks. Looks like you have some more nasty weather headed that way, but I have to go regardless.
Maybe if you can spare some time we can have a drink or something one of the evenings I am up there

I posted a similar sentiment in another post earlier today, but keep in mind that these cars aren't new enough to be new & exciting, and they're not old enough to be classics yet. We've got about 5 years before we can start applying for "Classic Auto" plates on 'em. ;)
What that means is that they're in that awkward in-between stage. Kinda like a kid that's too big to be cute and too small to be an adult. They're just gonna be in an awkward phase for a while.
For now, they're regarded by the general public as just another "old Corvette". That's alright. That's OK. In a few years some of us will be sitting pretty.
At one point in its life, my '67 GTO was just an old Pontiac gas guzzler to somebody. We had a '69 Judge that somebody wanted to "pull all those obnoxious decals" off of. Time and again you hear the stories about the rare Superbirds from the Mopar camps that had the big wings unceremoniously chopped off because they were unfashionable.
Let those who don't understand continue not to understand. It just strengthens our position for the future. :p

The decals and wing on the judges were pretty obnoxious. I do not even have the moldings on the bottom of my 71

You don't like me very much? :icon_scra
Listen, I'll always have my ZR-1 - I'm not selling so value is not a big deal to me even though I like to contribute to the value threads. Naturally, I hope values climb, regardless I'll enjoy my car one way or the other. Of course I am passionate about ZR-1's and do care about ZR-1's more then other Corvettes I own.
I just think if you are trying to represent yourself as an expert on a subject matter you should know what the hell you are talking about.
Clearly, this video is not impressive and it shows that they don't know what they are talking about.
Pretty sad video in my opinion especially when its done by Sports Car Market Magazine. Someone who claims to know the collector market.

I thought that car was not an original Aqua car and had a bad repaint. Someone posted a link to a for sale ad on here a while ago.
I agree these guys didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
