Banner title page edit any photoshop gurus out there [Archive]

Hey there I am not a photoshop guru but a few folks out there are. Can anybody make the banner page license plate filler look a little better with the Scripted ZR-1 logo? Maybe removing the corvette logo behind it so all you see is the red filler plate with the logo above it? Just a thought. GC :hello:

What would help would be the original files used to make the banner (in has high a resolution as possible) if someone can email them to me that would be great.

Not volunteering you for the job, but how about a new banner all together?

We have had that one for an eternity and we can make a much cleaner cooler looking banner.

I agree. My photoshop skills are middling but not in the virtuoso range. On the other hand my brother is a professional graphic designer - I'll ask him to have a crack at it a well :thumbsup:

So if someone wants to try a new design I'm all for it. My son is one but he's always too busy with wall street. :-D

Wow all that I was suggesting was to clean it up a little in the plate area. I dont understand how polictics are involved unless the board has to vote on changing it?

It wasn't that long ago that the banner didn't have the "ZR-1" thing written over the front of the bumper. Why not use that previous one if you just want it to look cleaner?

I was putting together a new boot screen for the DNX6160 and had some ZR-1 stuff up anyhow. If I spent a bit more time on it I'd like to replace the car in the middle with something not so redundant. Maybe a group shot or something... I'll make the PSD available if anybody wants it... just ask.

I contacted Mom to get some of the files in the current banner and he replied that there were some political issues and couldn't authorise a new banner.

If someone can do that I'll be happy to try and get a new design done. Obviously the actual use of any new banner is down to acceptance by the board.

I am not sure what Mom was refering to, but I can assure everyone that there are no "political issues" going on related to the Forum or the operation of the ZR-1 Net Registry.

All of the members of the Executive Committee (the Board) as well as the Forum Administration Team are working together to maintain the fine quality organization that Mom created and that the membership expects.

Lets not assume that second hand information posted here is accurate. It might very well be a miscommunication or misunderstanding.

The banner change has never involved "politics", nor should it. Mom came up with the current design and it is very good. However if another good design is proffered, we can certainly consider replacing the current one without it turning into a big deal.
Now if a Rustang were slipped into the banner, then it would be time to break out the nuclear weapons.

I didn't mean to be presumptuous or start an "issue". If the "powers that be" like the graphic, they're more than welcome to it. If for whatever reason it doesn't mesh with the plans, that's cool, too. I literally just was working on some images for my car, came across the thread, had a little spare time and viola. Like I said, I'll be happy to provide the PSD (photoshop working file) if that's helpful.

Websites are (part of) what I do for a living. My family and I own and operate a 10,000 sq-ft datacenter so we make our living off the Internet. I'm not a designer by trade, but I do like to goof around.

If I had my druthers, I'd find a something nice to replace the car in the middle that's now crashing into the LT5. :0 I'm thinking something "not red" and ideally a group shot of Z's, or folks enjoying their Z's... something. If someone's got a suggestion (or better yet, an image) I'd tack it in there.

No I never said it was political, I said I no longer run the forum since I am no longer on the board. This forum belongs to the ZR-1 Net Registry and those that run the club. So any changes decisions have to come thru the board. I am just a member like everyone else.

All of them are '95s too. No biggie, though, it's a nice banner. Maybe someone can come up with a series of banners, featuring different ZR-1 pictures and incorporating the registry logo. If they were the same size, and similar in layout, they could be swapped every few weeks or something.

I just grabbed those pictures off the NCM site. I'm sure there are plenty of other cool professional ZR-1 pictures that could be used. And I'm sure someone with skill and talent could make them look better/cleaner than this. I'm just tossing them out as a way to get my meaning across.

And yeah, Dynomite, once there were a couple they could probably just randomly display when you refresh the page or something similar. You may or may not have noticed that my signature image does the same thing...

Those are excellent - just swap them out every few months.

Keeps the site fresh instead of same ole thing every visit. Also keeping homepage updated and notes from the officers on monthly basis.

I would like to put your HOW TO refresh signature image in Solutons under the Heading LINKS, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, MESSAGES, POSTS

Does that involve signature permissions?
You cannot use animated Avatars for example.

It doesn't rely on the forum. It's simply a link to an external image, and that server will serve a random image from a pool.

I do this for my avatar on some other forums, though most vBulletin forums will save your avatar locally, which makes it no longer random.

Well as most know by now, the red ZR-1's came with extra HP from the factory, therefore they are the fastest. Keep in mind that this opinion has nothing to do with the fact that I have a red one. :mrgreen:

In all seriousness, we can look into changing the banner a little more often. We might even have several banners to choose from and let the forum members vote on which ones they like the most(i.e. like the vette babes voting).
So if anyone wants to create a banner with different years, colors, etc. feel free to do so, and it might be one we could use in the future.

In the mean time lets enjoy the new one that GTOger took the time to create for us.

I like Bob's designs.

You can have them change out or even use different designs on each page header.

In a normal website, you would want to use the same header. However, in this website, I think we like to see different Z's headers etc.

You could either have them rotate out or put one header for ZR-1 parts for sale, one for technical etc.

I just think it really updates the website and makes a big difference in appearance. I have suggested this in years past and glad to see the board moving forward with these changes.

I think it also helps with membership when you have a cutting edge site. It can also attract sponsors etc.
In our case, as a result of specific parts, we would be limited, but Detailers, rims, etc etc.
