Ken,

Probably stuck my foot in my mouth, when I said I will ship tp Europe, I meant for actual shipping cost......if you are buying based upon the understanding that I would do Europe for $45 I will honor the price.

Shipping is $13 to Europe, I will do $55 shipped to Europe.

Paypal is leegaffigan@yahoo.com

For those that do not know the CPT Video outlines how the LT-5 functions as well as how to remove and assemble the LT-5; cam timing process, 2ndry assembly and more. The CPT video also has a test and 2 manuals that compliment the video, all of which I have included.

It probably also depends on the shipper and value of the items. If something is under $50 there's no duty, but if it's over that they start racking up the duty and sometimes 'brokerage' and other ways of ripping us off up here.

I think some companies add that all in to the 'shipping cost' making it look like the shipping is expensive when really it's the duty and fees. Fedex always seems to be really expensive in my experience - regular USPS surface usually seems to be about the best.

Others may have a better idea of how it works though.

Hi David

Yes it has always been a dream to own a Corvette, and have now eventually managed to get one, I was actually looking for a late model C3 but then the ZR1 appeard in a local classifieds site.
I started to do some research and quickly realized it was time to forget about the C3
I then made a deal with the owner to hang on to the car for me to come and look, (nearly 500 miles away)
Well to cut a long story short, I went to look, bought it, and drove it home!!!!!!

It is a Black on black 1990 number 867, with nearly 70k miles on it.
It has got a set of headers fitted, DRM coil over suspension, but for the rest I believe it is stock.
There are quite a few small things to be repaired but that is part of why I call it my "Toy" because I enjoy slowly getting it all sorted out, keeps me out of mischief!!!
Some of the things that need repairing are:

Vacuum pump
O2 sensors
Parking brake lever
Oil leak on the gearbox back seal
PCV system
FX3 system was removed but most of the part are there.
So as you can see nothing really major.

At the moment Im aware of 2 other ZR1's in the country but also only from photo's, one of which is really in stunning condition.

Very nice Hoekie. Looks like mine, 1990 #1786, black on black. Congrats. I'm also a new owner, but I'll tell you, you have any questions about this car, post them here. These folks will help you with repair advice, where to find parts and just everything about your car. I just ordered headers and people were jumping in telling not to forget this part or that. tons of help.

Again, congrats and enjoy.

Wow that's great! The previous owner changed the front bumper to a 1991, all the moldings replaced and 96 front fender wells done too.

I have coil over suspension too and you will enjoy it much more by reactivating FX3..... What a difference!

Do you ever come to the US? If you do, let us know! (a good friend is from SA and working in Dubai. I've been trying to get him to buy a ZR-1 for years)

Love to hear your experiences with your car in SA! What do people say when you open the hood? Are there areas you can really drive your car "all out"?

Thanks for posting up!!! Very cool!

Send me your email address mate!

David

Hoekie
03-10-2012, 05:12 AM
Unfortunately I dont see me coming to the US in the near future but I did send you my e mail.
At the moment the car is not mobile as Im busy fixing the items I have mentioned above, but the reaction of my friends when I open the hood is good to see!!!! What *&%##* motor is this??? never seen one like it!!!
My only problem with the repair is that on average it takes 3 weeks for something to get here from the US, so the progress is quite slow, but who actually cares :( The main thing is so far I have managed to get everything I need.
Im hoping to have it on its wheels again in a few weeks as it is also hectic at work.
And then to see if the SMILY switch works again!!!! :-D
There are some area's here where I could give it a good push but my best option is a little light aircraft runway nearby.
Will let you know how things progress.

Vern,

This worked for me. If anyone has a contribution to the question from Vern, please do...

Insert the CD/DVD and open in Window Explorer. When you open the specific folder such as LT-5 Manual in Windows Explorer you can highlight all the pdf files in that folder and right click to save as a combined pdf. Rename the file to be created and follow the prompts. You should save it to your computer, flash drive, etc. rather than back on the CD/DVD.

This will save the entire "book" as a pdf file with access to all pages. From the Table of Contents page, you can see what you want to look at and the corresponding page number. In the tool bar at the top of the window, you can advance to the specific page.

This works for all files that are in one folder and are pdf format.
I did this for both the Manual and Mechanical Guide and it works great. You can also print specific pages from the pdf file as well for reference when working on a specific project.

Thanks to Lee for putting the effort into creating the conversion. It was a lot of work initially. :handshak:

Hope this helps. If you need a walk through drop me a PM and a phone number I can reach you at.

Paul

Combining PDF files did not work for me as my Explorer does not have a save option. Are you using Acrobat of some other third part PDF combiner? The web seems to think it won't work just using Explorer.

Vern

Vern,

There should be an option in Windows Explorer for combining them into one pdf once you highlight the files.

"Combine supported files in Acrobat..."

I am at work and do not have the CD/DVDs with me. I will check tonight again and catch some screen captures and PM them to you tonight.

It may be your version of Acrobat that will not let you do that. I have Acrobat 9. I will look into this as well.

Vern,

I have a paid version of Acrobat at work which includes the pdf editor software that allows for the combining of files.

That is the reason you can't do it. Sorry.

Paul, If you convert the .pdf using OCR you can use the search feature for specific words in the document. Nice function when a document has more than 100 pages.

Lee, do you have any more of the lt5 training videos and tech guides left? I am new to the registry so I am a little behind. also, i read where you sell repro cam cover emblems for 91-95, what is the difference with the 1990 cam cover emblems?? edramos #3028

I have the assembly manuals in dvd now Do you training videos show things like the plenum being removed etc.. I need to bone up and have the knowledge in case or when my z has a hiccup I can do something about it.

I have both available, I can burn a set need to get some labels, these are the GM Tapes; Haibeck sells an under the plenum tape. These cover everything about the engine, timing cams, etc.

For Plenum pulls Marcs is more detailed

Lee,

I would like a copy of the training videos and also 1990 cam cover emblems. I am also in on the purchase of the vinyl letters you are making for the cam covers. If you can give me a price on what you have ( training videos and cam cover emblems) I will pay you. thanks again. ed ramos #3028

I also like the idea of the vinyl letterings red for the numbers, black for the word corvette. I will keep checking to see if you will supply those.
