(posted on CF as well)...

Ok so here go some more updates. When the first run was complete, the technician yelled out "346.5" and I became awash with excitement! He mentioned that these were raw numbers and the printout would contain the SAE corrected figures. The printout shows the following:

Run 1 - 342.49 hp and 316.80 tq
Run 2 - 340.23 hp and 318.81 tq
Run 3 - 337.57 hp and 321.27 tq

All 3 runs were done within about 2 or 3 minutes of each other so there was miminal cool-down time. The runs were pretty consistent yet I noticed that as the HP begins to dip, the torque begins to rise? Is this a common phenomenon? Also, the car has a pretty flat line from 5700 rpm through 6700 rpm so I'm curious what my optimal shift points should be?
Anyway, here is a pic of the dyno sheet and also, a youtube video of my car's first run. Evan, your videos will be uploaded tomorrow morning. Your car sounded really good with the Borlas! Thanks for showing up and providing moral support!

Glad to see it all come together.

Did you get your oil changed?

Drive it for awhile, you will love it!

Then port and polish and headers

Yes I did change the oil thank goodness :) Funny you mention headers...Mine are being ceramic coated as we speak and I have already spoken with Corey Henderson about putting them in and my 4.30 gears in the next few weeks :dancing

I think you left some on the table with the Borla exhaust.

I'm pretty sure if you go with a better/freeflow exhaust you'll pick up some.

Nice #'s for basicly a stocker.

For the Borla all you need is an X-pipe and remove the resonator

I don't see where that is happening in the graph you posted. Nor would physics generally dictate that that can happen.

Pretty nice numbers for a stocker.

You must be all smiles! Nice power numbers.

Enjoy!
 & Jingle Bells!

Thanks for the compliments everyone :) What I meant regarding the hp dipping and the torque rising, was probably a little mis-typed. If you look at the numbers (not the graph), I notice a direct correlation between droppping HP and rising TQ. Take a peek:

Run 1 - 342.49 hp and 316.80 tq
Run 2 - 340.23 hp and 318.81 tq
Run 3 - 337.57 hp and 321.27 tq

You can see that the torque rises on every pull on the dyno, as the horsepower dips a tad. Anyway, with regards to the Borla, I don't have that system, my buddy EvanZR1 does. We went together to the dyno to support our Z's however, that does bring up a good point. I will be getting my x-pipe put on within the next few days. Then, within a couple weeks, I am taking the car to Corey to get the Jeal headers and gears installed. Considering the car came with "old-school" Dynomax mufflers, do I really need to step up to a 3" exhaust? If I don't have cats, resonator, and after market mufflers, won't the 2.5" be enough for a basically stock car? I've heard plenum/IH/head porting can be very $$$$ (like 5K), so I won't be able to justify a mod like that anytime soon. I know that in the old days on my LT1, going to bigger pipes on a stock motor would free up some ponies on the top end of the RPM but would kill low-end torque.

Anyway, considering all the gremlins I've had with the car when I first bought it, all the headaches, all the weekends I told my kids "Daddy will be done in a second" and instead, I had JetJock, Evan and my other buddies at my house troubleshooting my issues, I consider the excellent dyno results as a Christmas gift from good ole Santa :fahne:

True, Bob. I think he's referring to peak values, w/o regard to rpm - gave me pause as well, till I scrutinized the graph a bit. The trace with the highest torque also tails off more than the others, resulting in less hp at the peak hp point...is all.

Congrats,

I'd say you have one of the better performing stockers out there. My current car, 1991 #473, dynoed at 329HP, 321 TQ at the wheels in Portland 2 years ago. It was bone stock then. My chart looked very similar to yours too.

I never dynoed my 1st ZR-1, #458, but it would walk away from this one. It's currently located in McAllen, TX owned by mgbrv8.

Yea I promised myself to do as many dyno runs as possible so I could guage how much my car was improving with every performance mod. Next week, i am going back to the dyno to see how much the car improves with a Haibeck chip and x-pipe :-D

on your pipe size . jmho, but on a stk car ,even a car that has ported inj housings and plenum, headers fidanza flywheel and 410 gears .i believe that a well done 21/2 in give one better all around performance . you dont lose low end and its frre enough for my car to dyno 409.9 rwhp and 373.66 tq and that was with the flowmaster cat back system cars best mile an hr at the strip with this set up was117.80. had dr gas make me a 21/2in system with his xpipe and spin tec mufflers and the mile an hr went to 119.85. both of these runs were in july snd the temp wa around 90-95 deg . nacho corey could port your injector housings and plenum just like he did my black car for around 1500 or less inc r and r. the real roting cost is when you do the heads as the mototr has/or should come out to get the the heads off, ported and put on . you will have your mind blown by the power thats set free,by just porting the inj housings and plenum . when you go to see him ask him to pull up my dyno sheet for you to see what you aprox would end up with . i havent dynod the car with the newer muffler x pipe set up. but with a 2 mile an hr increase at the strip, id be will to be the car makes at least 15 rwhp more than with the flow master set up . just think how much more fun the car would be with 70-80 wrhp under your foot . you end up with what we call the perma grin
