What does nearly $8k buy these days... I hope it performs as good as it looks. :pray

not shown are the new buckets, valve locks, and shims to set the spring heights.

Who builds 427's? As in who not as in why build a 427. I would love a 427, much more than a 415.

Not as big as you might think... only 39.5mm. plenty of room in the chamber to go bigger, up to 42mm. You have to be careful of valve clash between the intake & exhaust if you have significant lift around TDC. Next time, I'll go bigger....

Todd,

You've clearly spent a great deal of time, planning and money on this project. What's your expectations? How will you be judging whether you've succeeded and that money was well spent?

Dom,
great question. What does success look like...
1) I actually get it assembled in time for the dyno test in January...
2) starts up with no drama...
3) good compression, ring seal, etc.
4) at least 700 chp on the engine dyno
5) no infant mortality, the thing survives the dyno test without wiping a cam lobe or breaking something.
6) no smoke, minimal oil consumption

We'll see. Recent experiences by some of the other members have made me a little quesy about turning the key first time. After all, this is the first time I've assembled an LT5...

use molly paste not assembly oil. These thing take for ever to fill up with oil...

Will the run time spent on the engine dyno be a few minutes to few hours?

I think I agree with Kevin.......pure LT5 porn!

Todd, best wishes and all the luck in the world to you Brother!:saluting:

God I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you light that monster off! I'll bet your grin will be big enough to swallow your ears....could you just see it, 4 CAM/427 on the license plate! Boy oh boy would that confuse some ZO6 owners or what?:sign10:

Exactly what I was thinking? Want to build me one once yours is finished?
