View Full Version : Weekend with the FBI

The last several days I was in Chicago for the Corvette Challenge. I ran into Pete and he was able to tune my Black Widow (Mercury Marine race cams, no secondary throttles, 350) better than it ever had been. I had a few drivability issues he was able to address. It ran very rich at idle, fouled spark plugs and would not drive properly in 6th gear under roughly 2200 rpms.
It is no longer fouling plugs or running super rich and on one drive over the weekend, I got down to 46 mph in 6th and it pulled up from there like a stocker. I am amazed!! These drivability issues can be solved in the tune and Pete can do it!
I had a great time at the pizza party bench racing with a great group of guys, thanks to Jeff for getting the group together and inviting me and Bob for the good pizza.
Pete, thanks again for fixing what I have been putting up with for 13 years!
Oh and BTW, should any wonder why I may not quickly respond to any comments or questions, it's because I'm out driving my ZR-1!!!!!
Thanks for a super time,
George Crouse

George,
That's great!
Does this mean the black widow will be "tracking it" @ BG???

Hi Kevin, well it hasn't been out much in the last 4 years, and not all that much before that. How's school?

Happy to meet another Z pilot, and one of the Black Widow drivers at that! Wish we could have spent more time together, George. Don't be a stranger - welcome back anytime!
Boy! 8 ZR-1s in the same pizza joint parking lot at the same time...As someone said, that's more Zs than exist in some states!! Ha!
Some of the "usual suspects" at the FBI GTG...

George,
sounds like a great time. I'm jealous. Wish I had Pete near my 415--similar symptoms with low speed issues. Also, my SGC canned car has an open loop chip, runs like a scalded dog, but gets 10mpg. Boy I'd love to learn to tune these cars. How about a beach gathering?

Hi Ted,
BTW it was great meeting you at Carlisle. Yes it was a fun time. I would be surprised if Pete could not fix your car.
I got about 23 mpg driving home. I would had menioned that initially, but I didn't buy mine for gas mileage and figured no one else did either. I used to get about 12-13 on the chip that was in the car when I bought it in 97.
These monsters can now be tamed!
I'm up for the beach gathering!
George

For those of us far away, tell us who everyone is in the picture.
Wish I was closer. OK not really when the weather here is so good.

There's "Nick", Bob (we call him "Harley Bob b/c there too, but not in the picture is Bob G - making the pizza we're eating), Pete, Ken, Dominic, Al, George, =Jeff=, and yours truly taking the picture. Others came and went - roughly 1/2 of the regulars were able to make it.

I've gained a tremendous amount of respect for you Pete. You've never been affraid to tackle new things to squeeze more hp out of your car and help others out. I hope some day to meet you personally. I would be an honor.:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

These statements are 100% accurate! Pete definately has my respect, and it really has been an honor. I had basically given up.

Pete's garage is probably as large and well stocked with LT-5 parts as some tuners, he could have one hell of a business if he advertised......but that would cut into his beauty sleep.

That we did. And did it well. They just can't seem to follow our instructions. Next time we put it down in writing.

The only thing that was fixed, after the 2nd bottle of vodka, was
that Pete served everyone a 'sausage' and
we found you a new gold tooth, Bob
