QA2 wheel package

I just bought '93 #166 and I have a question on the rims. The 94-95 rims are on them now, and they are original GM and still have the mounting stickers on them. In 94 the 5 star rims became standard. My question is could you order them as an option on your new 93? I looked up the options for my car and QA2 states:

QA2WHEEL,17X9.5 FRONT,17X11 REAR,STYLED(ALUMINUM) SPECIAL PERFORMANCE WHL(QA2)WHEEL,17X9.5 FRONT,17X11 REAR,STYLED(ALUMINUM)(USED WITH SPECIAL PERFORMANCE PACKAGE ZR1) SPECIAL PERFORMANCE WHL(QA2)

I like the look and am going to stay with them but would just like to know when the 5 star rims came out as an option if they became standard in 94. Thank you for your help.

i believe they became standard in 94. I can't see gm offering two different wheels for one model year

The five-spoke A-molds were standard on the '94 and '95 and were not available before then. Your '93 was originally delivered with sawblades on it.

if I remember correctly the 93's had polished sawblades rather then the machined ones that came on the 91-92

All ZR-1's were delivered with QA2. The "special" wheels are the ZR-1 sized ones, as the description states.

As stated above. You received the ZR-1 sawblades vs the standard coupe sawblades. A-Molds were OEM on all 94-95s
