As I was cleaning the front driver wheel well with the wheel off I noticed that the top of the shock gizzmo (?) comes off with no pressure needed. Is this common? The passenger side appears to be on tight.

You are missing the snap ring that goes through the crown of the shock retainer. Not available seperately. You have to find a wrecked car to purchase or somebody ditching the entire FX3 system.

There has to be an easier way to get the clip other that buying a wreck car. Someone, somewhere must have one. OK boys, start checking your jars out in the garage with all of the left over nuts and bolts!!!

I think he meant that you could by the clip from someone with a wrecked/salvaged car, rather than buying the whole car.

I don't have one, but am in the process of cleaning up the garage this weekend so I can find everything. I do have a separate drawer for each car to place extra/spare parts, rather than putting them in the general quagmire.

That makes alot more sense and practical. Let me know what you find. I only have the one car and it seems as if everything goes into the same drawer. Thanks for checking:)

In the interim you can use a paperclip to hold it- just bend the clip around like the regular one is bent.
It worked for me before I found a replacement.

If the top (Actuator) was loose, you might want to check and see if the
plastic gear that it sits on is intact. It is on the center shaft of the shock. Mine was broken: I replaced it with a metal gear. The clip that holds it on looks like the clip to hold on the old style window hand crank. Anyone remember these? Or am I dating myself....

I remember those things! Man what a pia on my C3 to get them off. Guess I'm an old timmer now when I start to remember things like that!:(

Wasn't FX3 an option on other C4's? A vette salvage yard might be worth a shot if it was not unique to a Z?? What about Bilstein?? Just thinking out loud & I'm proly way off base! :o

Contemporary Corvette in PA near Philly & Taber Chevrolet in Ill 877-349-2838 has some stuff. I got a 90 R/fr LTPWS sensor from them.

Thanks for your help guys. DRM has the plastic cup and clip for around $20.00 so I will probably drive there a pick up. Lucky for me he is only 45 miles north of the Twin Cities.
