Hi everyone, I've only recently joined as a member of the forum, but I've been reading the posts and articles for some time. I figured I'd stop in and say hi. I've always been a vette fan. I can remember looking at old pictures of my dad's war bonnet yellow 71' LT1. He sold it to buy my parents first house. My uncle's got a 58' he rebuilt our of bushel baskets. It only took him about 15 years. I've got alot of great memories of going to see him and getting to see the car in its various stages of restoration.
Anyway, its only recently I've actually been able to possibly afford my own Corvette. I've looked at the C6s, to pricy for me. The C5s, to many around. Which led me to the C4s. I knew a thing or two about the C4 ZR1s, or at least I thought I did until I found ZR1.net and this forum. I've not looked around all that much, but this is by far the nicest group of guys in general and on a forum I've ever seen. I'm a member of a few other automobile boards, and they pail in comparison to this one.
A little about me, in case anyone is wondering, I'm 26 and a Staff Sergeant in the USAF. Stationed in England, but currently back in Iraq. I'm really looking forward to reading through the posts to build my ZR1 knowlage base. Like I've said before, I am interested in buying a ZR1, but my present location means I'm in no big rush.
Anyway, just saying hi to everyone.:fahne:

Keep your head down and your eyes and ears open.
We'll make sure there's a few ZR1's left for you to choose from when you get home.

Welcome, and thanks for your service! You're smart to check in here before purchasing - the knowledge that exists among the membership here will be your best resource for finding a great ZR-1!

huh...i thought they said the war was over?
Anyway, stay safe...dont venture off the base alone and when given the chance pump those losers full of lead.
I'm watching out for yall from above 24hrs a day 7days a week w/ the cyclops.
ZR-1's are selling at great prices these days...it wont be long if you start looking seriously.
My advice...if you plan to mod one....look for one being sold that already is setup the way you want it. Haibeck 440's,415's; 402's 368's; Callaway Supernaturals, LPE cars, have all come up for sale recently.

Thanks for the great welcomes from everyone. Its nice to know people still care, even after almost a decade at war. Like I said, the knowlage base here is enormous. I'm going to do alot of reading before I buy.
To USAFPILOT, I definitely going to modify whatever I buy. I'm not the polish and car show kind of guy. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I was thinking the drag strip or an open road event like the Silver State Classic is where the car belongs.

You do realize there is an initiation ritual you must go through before you can be an official brother don't you?

What did you have in mind?Well since you don't have a ZR-1 your off the hook for now. But when you do! And I'm sure you'll let us all know! I think you should leave your ZR-1 alone with another local brother so he can unplug your mapp sensor or disconnect you secondary vacuum solenoid and when you figure out what's wrong and fix it, then you will have passed the initiation. How does that sound guys!

Or it could be an open wire contact on the Power On Key.
Any thing that keeps you at the 200HP till ya finger it out!
