Everyone is invited to a Westminster Maintenance Day on Sunday 10/10/10. We will start at about 9:00 AM, but come by any time and hang out. THe address is 195 W Main St, Westminster, MD 21157. We will be out back in the Garage.

I just got a new 10 Ton hydraulic press so we will be learning how to smash and crush things. After that, we will try to press out some u-joints and suspension bushings. Anyone with expertise in presses would be an asset.

Also, I am going to do some small rear area interior adjustments to the Yellow Z.

Post up here or call me if you need directions: 443-244-1347

Jim, you will love your press, I just bought a 12 ton, makes U-joints a snap. Love to come up, but helping a buddy put his 92 LT1 back together on Sunday. Maybe next time.

OK, you are excused this time since it is for a buddy with a Corvette. ;)

I'd love to, but I have to put this back together this weekend...

I think the sunroof drains were clogged a bit, and when we got that ton of rain at the end of last week, it leaked a whole bunch inside the car. I'm thinking maybe I should just get a cage welded in, throw in a racing seat, and track it. Presumably my wife could still drive to work in it?

Bob, If you need help, we could do a Leesburg Maintenance Day.

That picure is what pops in my mind ever time I think about doing any interior project.

I would have to have a zip-lock bag ready to hold all the fasteners that will be left over after the job.

Good Luck,

Jim

It was fun hanging out, I'm glad I could make it there. Yun, I really enjoyed talking with you and Jim afterwards, even though it meant I missed the beer store (got there 8 minutes after it closed!)

There is a reason to show up the next time. I enjoyed the discussion also.

Jim,

Good news is that dog bones certainly took out most of the noise. Bad news is that Igreased the wrong part - now that I think about it it needs to be greased between the urathane bushing and the bore of the aluminum extrusion. Yes. I have a bit of suspension sqeak due to this. However, got rid of annoying popping noise.
Also, I should have done the struts. I am convinced these two corrections will fully cure suspension noise I have been chasing.
By the way, handing is much tighter.

Well as you know, getting all of the noise out of a C4 suspension is a journey with a lot of small steps. You just have a few more to go.

Despite a little sqeak over speed bumps rear suspension has never been so pleasing - nice solid "thunk" over undulation- no crappy, clanky noise, well almost none.
I am confident strut bushings will get rid of the rest.
