Just completed putting a buddies 90' top end back together after a powder coat treatment and replacing the starter, injectors, coils and wires. She started OK and after a few minutes of rough running cleared up and ran. She's exhibiting a few unusual things though. She shows a code 16, runs the cooling fans constantly and idles at about 1000 rpm.
I looked up the code 16 and it has to do with either the DIS module, the ECM or a bad connection. We made one notable mistake when putting her back together. After everything was back together we tried to start her several times before realizing that we forgot to put the chip back into the ECM.
Just want to see if anyone else has run into this or has any ideas before I pull the plenum again and check all the DIS connections?

Hans, I had this the last time I did a pull. I bent one of the pins on the DIS box when I tried to put the harness connector on upside down!:o:o:o:cry:
Trouble was even with one of those small mirrors I could not see well enough to confirm it till I pulled the plenum. The book lists wiring issue, ECM or DIS N/G as probable reasons for a 16. If you are near Tom from Movit ask to borrow my spare ECM that I sent out to him for another matter.

Thanks Tom, you confirmed my suspicion. I had difficulty getting the DIS connector on and was afraid I might have bent a pin. It will be a few days before I can check, hopefully I didn't damage thing too badly.

Well, we finally had time to pull the plenum last weekend and sure enough one of the pins on the DIS module for the main connector was bent and did not connect. I was able to bend it back and straighten it without any damage. Had to order a fresh set of plenum gaskets (broke one) so it goes back together tomorrow. That will hopefully do it.
