Hi gang!
This is Dave Macbeth, the proud new owner of 1991 ZR-1 #384, and an even prouder new member of the registry.
I've drooled over these machines for several years. Finally this summer the itch got to be too much.....so my restored '59 dodge power wagon went on the block and thus began the adventure of buying my first zr-1.
With cash in hand I shopped for just the right car. Finding #384 in LA I jumped on a plane, bought the car, and drove it home to Palmerton, PA, a total of 3400 miles! (averaged 26.1 mpg over 5 days in case anyone is wondering!)
Now, with the car snug in my garage I am finally getting around to joining the forums.
So, are there any other members in the NE PA neighborhood? If anybody is familiar with Blue Mountain Ski, I'm about 3 miles away. (and yes, I've already been to Carlisl.....that's where I joined the registry!)
Thanks to those who've put together a great club, and I look forward to meeting everybody.
Dave

Dave,
Welcome!!! There are plenty of Z owners near you and a huge group a few hours south.
Take a look at "Wazoo" posts in the SE / NE regional forums, you will get a kick out of them.
Lots of great things going on including a group going to Mystic Conn October 3rd (this sunday) and another one November 7th in West Chester PA for "Corvettes for Chip".
If you have questions or if we can help, post up or email me @ events@ZR1netregistry.com

Welcome to the Registry Dave. Congratulations on the ZR-1.
Cross Country in a ZR-1!!! Man, you are living the dream!
What preps did you do to the ZR-1 before you set out?
I remember driving my first ZR-1 home from Chicago. What a great trip. When I stopped at the first motel, I sat with the shades open for a while just staring at MY ZR-1 in the parking lot.
If you have any pictures from you trip, I hope you will post them here or in the Member Rides section of the Forum.
Jim

Thanks for such a warm greeting guys!
From the moment we pulled out of cali I have been having such a blast with this car. The corvette community is quite different from the truck community I have spent most of my collecting time with. With the power wagon I was very used to being the only example of the breed at most shows I went to. Carlisle this year was my first experience with a vette show...........what an eye-opener!
Regarding the car and prep for the trip......I bought her as an 89,000 mile driver quality ride with one fairly good quality repaint. It is certainly no Bloomington Gold car, but it shines great in the sun and handled a 3500 mile trip with nothing more than a full fluid change. It didnt even overheat when we were crossing the Mojave desert with an outside temp of 112!!!! (I have a picture of the outside temp display to prove it!)
Overall, I think I did Ok for the $12,000 I spent on it. What do you guys think?
Thanks again, Dave

Twelve grand is a great price for a good driver! Gotta love the driver's!! I bought my driver 5 years ago with 65K on her and now she has 75K. I've had to do some of the typical work, but now everything works as it came from the factory. Looks good, runs good and ain't afraid to drive it.
Welcome to the hood!

Hey John....
Thanks for the invite. I would love to meet up with you guys at some point. The only problem is my work schedule....I'm an organist at a large lutheran church in allentown, so I'm at work from 7AM till after 1 every sunday. Do you guys ever meet on a saturday?
Also, where are you? I grew up in Concord Twp. and did two degrees at West Chester!
