Spoke to blackhawk farms raceway, they are located on the WI/IL boarder and are an SCCA/NASA track. IF we get 40-50 cars we could rent the track for the day for $165-170 per person...includes, insurance, corner workers, ambulance, etc. Track to ourselves.
Turns out the owner has 2 ZR-1s(90, 94) and a new ZR-1....and races a GT-1 vette in SCCA.
http://www.blackhawkfarms.com/content/homepage.cfm
Blackhawk Farms is a 1.95 mile, 7 turn private circuit racetrack located in South Beloit, Illinois on 216 acres. The track is on the border between Wisconsin and Illinois, within 90 miles o f 2 major metropolitan areas; Chicago and Milwaukee and minutes from interstate 90.
Byron dragway is only 30/40 minutes away. Could do a Friday at the road course and then sat at Byron.....area has a great countryside, and lodging/entertainment are reasonable.
Just a thought...

Well I thought this group was more than a bunch of waxers;)

I guess it would depend when it was for a lot of people, myself included. I'd be interested but it's also a fairly long drive for me to get there.
Doing a track day at Mosport in just over a week :)

Everyone must be afraid of damaging their Original Gatorbacks!
Pete said he would stay back in the paddock to watch your purses....ladies:wave:

LOL
Lee,here's what i think about roundy round tracks, pay $200-$300 and try to break/beat the crap out of your car.
With Drag Racing you pay $30 and try to break you car in 10 second increments. :-)

I've decided its best that no one from here participate, sorry but clearly no one here is really worthy of an event of this scale. My apologies.....
I will repost this on the Mustang board.

Probably need to move the tech section to the bottom of the forum board....Cleaning/Waxing should be moved to first.

Sorry Pete, got your PM but no exceptions......the slots are quickly being filled up, mostly with 4 banger Rustangs from the mid 80s, but they all have the faux 5.0 badge and thats what counts.
LMAO
I'm with you Lee.
I was going to do my part and watch the purses.:)
I will still do my part and watch the Mustang guys purses.

Lee I love the idea. And if it wasn't 1000 miles away I'd be in. Unfortunately most ZR-1 owners are waxers. So good luck getting 40 or 50 Z owners to show up for it.

I think you need to post 2-3 different dates.
Be like Pete saying he will have a garage tour in 2011.. 1 day only
Feb 29th ;)

Before I start wasting peoples time in getting dates, wanted to know if there was an interest in doing, does not seem to be from our group, might pursue the idea on the other vette forum.

Okay, but the same thing with the other vette forums.. even if you said.. looking at (April July or Oct) it narrows it down

you're talking to a very small subset of a very small subset of a very small group of owners so yeah it's going to be hard to find 40-50 people from just this forum. I'm not interested because I can't afford to take my car home in a box, and frankly even if i was closer I can't afford the rental fee. will you have better luck on forums with more members, of course you will. you'll also have more luck with opening it up to anything with 4 wheels and a motor.

Sounds like fun - but Mosport is in my back yard, and it is arguable one of the most technically demanding tracks on earth. I absolutely LOVE tracking my car at Mosport. Having said that - keep the dialogue open - maybe a road trip is in order!
BTW - dragracing is about as exciting as choosing floor mats for a C6 in comparison to a day at the track (you know, one with turns).

Guys at this point I have already posted on other forums, Corvette/Cobra/Porsche websites........honestly I am just busting balls as a joke. I posted this in the general forum as most people don't read the regional forums and there have been requests to have a regional event in the midwest.

Sweet! Pete get his purse.
I have 10 so far....and speaking to a Porsche guy who sets these up, most people do not sign up until the week before.
Sweet! Pete get his purse.
LMAO
I'm on it Lee,you can count on me.
I know Charlie personally and i would consider him VIP.
Pete
I thought the registry will pay for all this.
Lee,i can't try the roundy thing my Z is not set up for it.
Can we grill there?
If this roundy round thing does not work can we try renting US41 at $170 per person all we need is 10-12 racers.

You midwest folks might want to check this out:
http://www.corvettemuseum.com/registration/autobahnCC/info.shtml
That's about as inexpensive as you can find ... trust me, I know the costs involved with leasing a track for private use. BHF is a neat little track, but it can't compete with Joliet for challenging.

Autobahn is $225 to take a short class, 3 touring laps, and then walk the track to discuss driving lines, etc.
Driving experience for a 1/2 day is $525
I know I have seen cheaper sponsored events.

I spent my last saved up track money with 10/10 th's motorsports at Autobahn, they're a good safe run group to run with, and a lot of track time. I think it was about 400 for 2 days. I would sign up, but need a job first after getting laid off. It would be great running with other Z's. Good luck getting a group together.
