The early camshaft was discussed in detail during the Gathering. Jim Minneker from GM Powertrain IIRC, related the story of how they found the problem. The team investigating the issue visited a the car carrier lot at the time the camshaft problem
surfaced. I believe it may have been during the winter. As they were moving about the lot, they noticed a female driver was starting the cars at
nearly full throttle. They asked her to do it again and again she started the motor, in the cold weather, by jamming the throttle. She told them
she did this because the cars were hard to start in the cold weather or keep running. Actually I think it may have been Graham Behan that was part of the investigating team. Of course, starting a new motor at full throat in the winter didn't help the cam lobe break in.!!!! If someone else recalls the facts better than I, please chime in. ;)

Dominic, that is correct, its outlines in Heart of the Beast, thought people would like to see what some of the speculation was....back in the day.
