How hard is it to covert an L98 to ZR-1 shaft on a ZF, I have the opportunity to buy one cheap but its fubar'd......thought I would learn to rebuild these.

Input shaft is longer on ZR trans which is why bellhousing is deeper. Somebody like Pete or Al could tell you as well as ZF Doc.

Rockland Standard Gear is the sole U.S. distributor of ZF parts/seals/gaskets, etc.

You might could save a few bucks by buying direct, but personally, I'd rather give my $$$ to a vendor who not only is a really nice guy, really knows his stuff and also loves ZR1's.

Bill B. is one of the best in the business and stands behinds his work.
Not many like him around anymore.

Got a set of tan 89 seat covers on foam for a penny also, going to use them as templates for cloth seats.

HELL YEAH it's worth it.

Even one good part in that trans is big money.

Either keep it as spare parts or go thru it to see what the problem is.
But i will tell you this between the input shaft and if it needs 2nd or 3rd gear if any one of those gears are bad then for sure a syncro set and gasket set.

Just parts alone.
Input shaft $800
1 gear$300
Syncro set $670
Gasket set $200 (Kurt White $100)
Makes no ZF worth it.
