Was thinking of putting cloth seats in the 90 ZR-1, was going to use the Corvette Challenge logo, and put the ZR-1 Script across it......going to buy a cheap set of seats and have them copied.
Any thoughts

The nice thing about the cloth seats is that they age well... the cheap GM leather is a real weak point for these cars (and every corvette thereafter).

Nice thing is they are made for free, my mother is seamstress and pretty good, she also has access to machines that stitch from photos! She was pretty sure she can find the matching material to the original cloths

Interesting seat design there... haven't seen anything like that before. Not my particular taste, but it's not my car :)

Oh, I think I get it now.... little slow on the uptake tonight. So, you were going to try to use the OEM sport seat design, in cloth, with the ZR-1 logo embroided in the cloth. I think I got it.

If they are comfortable and usefull why not just get a set?

Yes it would be like the R9G cars, I will probably switch to lighter weight carpet and go with a Black/Charcoal seat color.

Do you mean you'd swap in cloth/manual seats from a base 'vette? Or do you mean you'd redo your leather ones with cloth covers?

Mine are converted to manual and going to put base seats on covered in new cloth.

Actually, the leather used in the ZR-1s (and many of the other Corvette sport seats of the time) is amongst the most expensive leathers available. That's Connolly leather you got there - same exact leather hides they use in in a Rolls-Royce.

You sure that is Connolly leather? They generally made uncoated leather for "premium" cars. The 'vette has coated leather. The 'vette leather doesn't seem any more impressive than any other GM cars I've had, though it's certainly decent quality.

I live two doors down from the GM chief interior designer who redid the 94 interior. He indicated that they thought of advertising the fact that the leather is Connelly but that Marketing thought the typical Corvette customer wouldn't care. Yes I am 100% sure on this one.

If this stuff is Connolly leather not saying much for Connolly quality. There is an area on the seat backs that is about as subtle as a piece of cardboard.A year ago I got a quote to have a set of seats recovered in cloth, price was $2000 coming from one of the best shops in the country,DSV in Texas.

Jeff,
Just a quick comment on the Connolly thing, I hope I was not being misunderstood (and this is my fault so I apologize) when I mentioned that this was for the 94 and up interior refreshening. I don't think the earlier Corvettes received the same quality of leather - so you guys may be right with respect to the quality the leather in your earlier Zs.
