Well with my brake problems fixed it is now time to move on to the u-joint I have which makes popping noises as I take off rolling after a red light or something.

Where is the best deal on a set of u-joints. I am going to just do them all while I am at it. But my noise comes from the left side of the car.

What brands/types of u-joints are out there? Where to get them etc? I drive my car hard so I need something strong, maybe an upgrade from stock.

I am looking at a rebuild kit for C4 corvettes w/ aluminum drive shaft and half shaft which comes with two maintenancefree pn#1310 spicer NON grease and 4 pn1350 NON grease u-joints and the straps/bolts etc.

Price is 230.00

I dont see where it says 799 series?

Greaseable ones are much weaker and will break much easier. Stay away from greaseable ones.

That's a 10-4 on that. Non-greasable

Beware of the fact that most U-Joints have the grease holes in them but no fittings.
Toms differential http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/
stock's the strong u-joints.Denny's drive shaft is another GOOD source for the good u-joints see Phil's link to Denny's.
*Don't* trust the local parts house etc. concerning u-joints.

nice thing about the ujoints on dennys site .you just push the caps together and you will hear a little click .then the caps are locked on so no worries about losing a cap while puttin them on

When I replaced my axle U-joints a few years ago I was stuck in front of my son's house up on a steep hill in Coos Bay, OR. I had to settle for joints I got at a nearby NAPA store that I don't think were Spicer...but they have held up fine and were not very expensive. When I had the gears changed and the rear end set up by a competition/off-road shop they said the joints looked really solid.

Ok...I am about to order...I need confirmation on the part numbers I need. Do I need the 1310 or 1330 for the drive shaft? And is the 1350 the correct part for the half shaft?

yeah that's the website I am looking at and it says to use the 1310 or 1330 but measure to be sure which.

The 1330 is wider 3.625" vs 3.219" for the 1310. Their kit comes with the 1310's and 1350's. But they have a disclaimer that says they wont sell you parts based on year make and model. I guess I will have to get under it and measure.

Make sure to get the ujoints for aluminum 1/2 shafts and driveshaft.

Ryan the only difference between the Spicers for steel drive shafts and aluminum ones are that they are coated so that the aluminum won't oxidize and corrode around them. Mine never last long enough to corrode anyway so I just get the ones for steel.

rick do you know which measure ment we need for the drive shaft? the 3.625" or the 3.219"The u-joints for the drive shaft are smaller. The u-joints for the half shafts are bigger. Sorry! I did'nt see that you had texted me 3 times already. I'm locking up the shop and heading home I'll call you when I'm on the road.

Per Bill B.
The slip yolk assembly is P/N 2-3-13131X.
The drive shaft u-joints P/N is 5-785X/5-786X (steel/aluminum).
The half shaft u-joints are 5-799X/5-800 (steel/aluminum).
