Ok,
I can't stand it anymore,
I have been wanting to save some money and not bring the ZR-1 this year, to save up for the NCRS Nationals in Michigan next year. With this weather it's going to make me crazy if I dont have it there....
I NEED A TRAILER
upstate NY
(Syracuse area) To Carlisle and Back.
Yea, I know what everyone will say.... Just drive it....
But I would like to keep the miles low, and dont need a renegade rock chip in anything..!

Why not just rent a U-haul trailer? That's what I did when I first bought my '90 ZR-1:

A trailer is the way to go. In the off seasons it can be used as a storage box.

Smart move trailering it if you are going to drive 81 south. Last year the front of my car was peppered by rocks in the construction zone. I just heard 81 is tore up again for 7 miles between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton.

Do you think I-81 will ever be finished?

I am going down 87 to 287 to 78 this year.

I have never regretted buying my trailer. Sometimes it is just the best way to go. My dad's Admiral Blue '95 would have been "worse for wear" at the Gathering this spring if we had driven it.

I heard about other guys after the Gathering having to have parts repainted due to stray rocks and chips and even a few people who had to replace a tire due to bad roads or construction.

Hi,
I try to avoid I-81 like the plague....
Always was a mess, and always will be I think.
I drove the ZR-1 to Carlisle in 2008 and never touched 81... No rock chips and a lot less cars around.

As far as U-Haul/ Penski rentals, I think both of the trailers have the metal stops that stick up too high to clear the front spoiler ( don't want to mess around taking the spoiler off)
Have to check other options, but running out of time.. Have tomorrow off from work so I will keep looking.
Cant buy a trailer right now, would be a enclosed one if I ever did, and it would be hard to explain that one to the wife.

See ya soon, one way or another...

You might try Budget Truck Rental.
They have trailers with tilting beds and long ramps.
I used one when I hauled my Z home from Springville, NY.

Here is how a guy got his C5 on a U-Haul car trailer

Hi,
Does it look llike ther is a piece of wood up in front by the front tires?
I have 5" of ground clearance and that metal stop is about 6" or so.

Want to go test this out, now its raining.......
I can't win.

Your safest bet is to remove spoiler which takes 10 minutes.
Uhaul trailer works, once you strap it down and put chains on properly it is not going anywhere.

If you never have done it, get help.

Takes me about 20 mins to load but I'm very careful and check everything multiple times before hitting I-95.

When I bought my 95 back in 2005, I rented the U-Haul trailer to pick her up. The trailer worked out great and I really liked the front straps that went over the front tires. The car didn't budge one bit. I think it was only $50.00 for the day. Good Luck hope to see you at Carlisle.

Hi Rick,
Did your trailer have the high metal stop for the front tires?
Did you take the spoiler off?
Thanks
I will be there either way.
Most likely with the 89
