08/12/10) NEW YORK (AP) - An aide to New York's governor has surrendered on an assault charge in the 2009 Bronx domestic violence incident that touched off a tampering investigation in Albany.
The Bronx district attorney's office says David Johnson surrendered to authorities around 9:30 a.m. Thursday on misdeameanor charges.
The case stems from an incident last Halloween. His then-girlfriend, Sherr-Una Booker, called police to say she had been choked and thrown against a mirror by Johnson.
The case was initially handled in Family Court and dropped without prejudice because Booker did not appear for a hearing.
