Just found out that the left side wheels are bent/out of round. :( Explains why the previous tire shop couldn't balance out a vibration. Don't recall running over anything or hitting a curb.

Can these wheels be repaired? Or am I looking at replacing them.

Can be fixed for $100 or so per wheel

Where? Should I look for a specialty wheel shop or ask a dealership for a recommendation or ???

Thanks.

Call your insurance company and ask them who they use to straighten wheels. Body shop would know also.

I have a wheel straightener in the garage. never done a set of aluminum wheels though.
Wouldnt there be an issue with "work hardening" of the aluminum? Maybe not if the bend was minimal.

I work in insurance, the can be repaired without issue. Never had an issue and I oversee about 5500 claims per month, for the last 14 years....so they know what is safe and what is not.

Good info, I will have to throw an aluminum wheel on the straightener and see how it works out.
Thanks.

PS Some of those motorcycle wheel repairs are really out there. Good pricing as well.

There is a wheel restoration shop in Bath, PA. "Wheel Collision Center" They did a set of 1990 wheels for me. Cosmetic only but they claimed they could straighten and repair curb rash. Web site is www.wheelcollision.com/ (http://www.wheelcollision.com/)

Curious: How do you warp or bend a rigid metal wheel like aluminum or mag???

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll do some investigating.

Also have a line on a set of rear wheels which would be good to have in reserve.

If you hit any wheel, steel or alloy, hard enough the wrong way it will bend or break. We've put a bit over 15k miles on the car in 4 years and don't recall hitting anything, especially anything hard enough to bend both wheels.
