We lost a really fine person today. I've spent a little time with Paul and must say that he was simply one of the finest people I have ever known. He was a profound gentleman with tremendous class and made you feel immediately at ease with him. I'll miss him personally. The ZR-1 community has lost a great member and a fantastic representative for the ZR-1 Corvette. God bless you Paul. You will be missed.:saluting:

Paul Smith wrote the following;

Paul Dehnert was a very good friend to many of us and it is with a very
heavy heart that I pass this message on to the ZR1 guys.

Paul has been fighting multiple myeloma cancer all year long with pretty
good results until he caught pneumonia 2 weeks ago. He never recovered. Paul passed away at 10:47 am this morning.

Paul lived life to the fullest and thoroughly enjoyed his LPE 415 and TT
ZR1s as well as his friends in the ZR1 community.

I am fortunate enough to have many great memories with Paul as we went to so
many car events over the last 13 years.

I have never known anyone with a more a positive outlook on life. His glass
was always full. A real inspiration to me and many others. Paul was one of a
kind and will be greatly missed.

God speed Paul!

Life is too short so you better enjoy it while you can.

Paul Smith

Here is the message from his wife Vicky:

Dear Family and Friends,

With profound sorrow we regret to inform you that our dad and husband, G.
Paul Dehnert, passed from this life on Saturday, August 7 at 10:47a.m. at
the UAMS hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was surrounded by his immediate
family and passed peacefully with our love and blessing. He conquered multi
myeloma cancer this past year, but died of complications from a fungal
pneumonia.

Arrangements are pending; there will be a memorial service in Austin, Texas
within a week (tentatively on Saturday, August 14), then Mill Valley,
California at a later date.

Thank you for all your support, love and concern this past year.

He's in a better place now, and as Willie's song says, "On the road
again....."

Our love,
Vicky, Nathan, Mike, Kristin, Jeff Dehnert

He was a friend and he will be missed. Here he is at Camp LT-5 doing what he loved best, talking about cars.

Paul was the consummate engineer, always interested in new and exotic pieces. We learned of his battle with cancer last fall at the BBQ, and he was in Little Rock recovering from a round of chemo in May so he missed the 20th at the NCM. Now he's probably checking in with John L. about another twin-turbo ...

Paul D and John L must be bench racing right now.

The upper frame is John Lingenfelter and Paul, with Graham in the white shirt hidden behind Paul. They are looking at Paul's LPE 368 twin turbo #1 of 4.

The lower frame is John L. in a white LPE 385 customer car lined up against Paul in his twin turbo. Graham is standing to the left of the white car. John jumped out 2-1/2 car lengths out of the hole but Paul reeled him in with the TT horsepower and won by 1/2 second!

Below are details of the memorial service in Austin this Saturday for Paul. For those who are so inclined, a burnout at 11:00 am would be appropriate.

Hello, Vicky and children are staying with friends in Austin for the week. The service for Paul will be: Saturday, August 14 11:00a.m. First Presbyterian Church, 8001 Mesa Drive, Austin, TX Lunch following immediately after The church is centrally located, so any hotel in Austin will work for logistics. Let me know if you need suggestions. This will be a memorial celebration service. There will be an opportunity for a few people to say a few words about Paul during the service. We would be pleased if a few people would like to participate; let me know if you are interested. I need to know soon for program printing deadlines. I will email a copy of the obituary when it's ready. Memorial service will also be held in San Francisco/Mill Valley, date to be determined. Please don't send flowers. I know Paul would like to have contributions made to the Multiple Institute. Details will be in obituary. Many thanks, Vicky

It is always sad when quality people pass on. Paul is in a better place now where no speed limits or rev limiters exist.

My sincerest apologies for not having sent the notice directly to your email account. I wish you could have been there today, but know you were there in spirit. Paul would have approved of the service.....:flag2:
